CARE If you approach directly from Carnforth Town Centre then you will have to negotiate a narrow low bridge. Much better to leave Carnforth on the A6 (south) and turn right at the mini roundabout Longfield Drive

Stopped here last night after looking at previous reviews. Didn't disappoint. Nobody else here and 1st car heard at 8.30 in the morning, followed by a few more as its a prime dog walking spot, which isn't a bad thing. Highly recommend the Highfield chippy which is only 5 minutes away, again with great reviews, brought them back to camp, was ace... As said one end of Shore road is a low bridge, 9ft high to be exact, which is ok for us but not a larger vehicle. No facilities or bins...

We have stopped over here on a number of occasions during September and October. We ALWAYS approach via Longfield Drive (off the A6 south of Carnforth) in order to avoid the low bridges at the other end of Shore Road.
Going this way the first parking area is on your right and can take 2 to 3 vans (more at a push) followed immediately by a smaller one on your left which can take one large MoHo. There are then a number of less defined spots before Shore Road winds towards the bridges.
If all else fails there is a tarmaced parking on the left just before the bridges (where a footbridge crosses the River Keer)....not as isolated but handy if the other spots are full
All recommended.

Just spent one night here over a weekend! Nice peaceful nights sleep. Dog walkers, joggers and cyclists passing by in the morning. Perfect for us though. No facilities which is just what we required for this stopover! Would stay again... very pleasant!

We stopped here on our way to the Lakes, arrived around 11pm and decided to park up in a lay-by just before this one as slightly concerned by the sign "Road may flood" great stop off as very quite.
we done a litter pick before we left and took the rubbish with us as payment

Approached from the South to avoid low bridge, short stretch of single track road. Pretty spot. We parked sideways in layby just 100m across the road from the main one, so no cars coming and going next to us. Lovely walk across the marsh, quiet, safe . I then cycled on route 6 the 11 miles to Levens Hall, beautiful backroads and stunning gardens at Levens hall woth excellent cafe

Stopped off here for one night after getting off the boat at Heysham before heading north up the M6 to Scotland. Very quiet and out of the way. No facilities apart from a bin, but perfectly suitable for an overnight stop.

Brilliant little stop with grass banks. Quiet and out of the way but still close to town, lovely views from sunrise to sunset and the view of the stars is pretty amazing! The road is not busy with traffic but a number of people pulling up in cars to walk their dogs from around 6.30am all pleasant enough. No facilities but there is a bin! will definitely be stopping over again

Spent one night here, nice quiet site, plenty of dog walkers evening and early morning, but as we have a Dug it was fine. The walks are across tidal marsh flats, but the paths are well defined and not muddy. Plenty of room for about four rigs. We’ll happily use the site again. If you approach from the North there is a bridge with only 9ft headroom, which may be a problem for hi-top rigs.

Nice quiet place. We only used it as a stopover when we were heading south as it’s only a few miles from the motorway.
Plenty of dog walkers first thing.
I don’t think I would have stayed if it was wet.
Carnforth is handy for supplies.

Lovely quiet spot. Distant rail noise only. Road liable to flooding apparently but we stayed dry!
Nice view. Early dog walkers

Love this spot for a wild camp, although they do have a rubbish bin (much appreciated) very quiet but felt safe, off the beaten track but also handy for Carnforth which is very nice and locals friendly. Solo traveller.

Great spot for free camp only one thing the enterance from shore rd has a 9ft height restriction so you have to come in the crag bank rd and continue to the crag bank lane this takes you in the back way and along the river bank. As said great spot for dog to run around and kids to enjoy the river bank as not that deep the spot we arrived a.

Thanks again stop overs

Head elsewhere tomorrow

Nice level site. Peaceful and quiet. Good mobile 4G and satellite signal. TV signal also great. Nearby bin. Excellent views. Short walk/drive to Carnforth with a wide range of shops and facilities.
