We are a retired couple driving a 6.4m Autotrail. We stayed here in June 2019. This is a really pleasant site within 20 minutes walk of the centre of Chartres. There is some road noise but it quietens down at night. There are some overhanging trees to negotiate which are no problem to van conversions. The view over a reed-bed meadow is lovely - actually, stunning this sunny morning. The ground is a mixture of hard standing and grass and can accommodate most vehicles. Supermarket and shops a short walk away with fuel at a reasonable price. There are no services but it’s a free site and well worth a one or two night stay in this lovely town.View all reviews by dennisperry
Mixed parking area by a nature reserve and riverside path, for a pleasant stroll into the city. Large Intermarche close by for the necessaries but no services at all. Plenty of room for larger vans to back the overhang over the grass verge. Chartres is a must see city, so this is a really convenient place to park. There is a railway over the road but we were not troubled by it at all.View all reviews by vanessavan
Loved this little place. At the side of the riverwalk into town, and although there are no facilities, it gave us free access to a lovely day out exploring. Feel safe and the view was quite pleasantView all reviews by ricoshay
Nice big car park and we parked all day but not overnight. We cycled to cathedral which took about 10mins mostly along dedicated cycle paths. The little train appears to run from here to the cathedral as well but we didnt investigate.View all reviews by jghsmith
We didn’t notice until we left but there is a 3.5t weight limit on the sign. We are 4.25t and didn’t have any trouble.
Nicely placed, but absolutely no facilities, and 4km from the Cathedral. So the walk into town is 8km, (5miles) there and back, and up a steep hill, plus whatever you do in town. Cathedral is Huge but renovations are very strange (painting the inside stonework??)...and they play weird screeching 'music' for those attempting "the Labyrinth". You need to see it to believe it...otherwise, nice town, nice bars and shops.View all reviews by montybe
Nice place to stay. Over 100m long so much bigger than it looks in photos.View all reviews by jac644
Lots of French use it.
A bit of traffic noise but not too bad.
Cycle path direct into town or about 15 mins walk
