|At the end of the A99 you will find the John O'Groats Caravan and Camping Site on the seafront besides the Last House in Scotland.|
From the site you can relax and enjoy the fine panoramic views of the Pentland Firth, one of the most dangerous shipping channels in the world with its strong ebbing and flowing sea currents and spectacular tidal races. To your left you will see the Island of Stroma, three and a half kilometres from the mainland, inhabited by a seal colony and the occasional visitor. In front of you will see the Orkney Islands from Hoy on your left then to South Walls, Flotta, South Ronaldsay and Pentland Skerries to your extreme right.

Long established campsite. Good facilities and views over the ocean. Can be busy. The highlight was watching an incredible sunset and twilight/moonlight walk towards Duncansby Head. A short walk from the campsite, we saw two Atlantic Greys in the bay and counted a dozen beacons strewn across the mainland and Orkney Islands. From the headland you can see the Gates of Hell, the Bores of Duncansby, where the Atlantic hits the glassy wall of the North Sea. It's a harsh but awe-inspiring landscape.View all reviews by HMoat

Surprisingly uncommercial little site With glorious views overlooking the Pentland Firth, only 100 yards from the tourist attractions. Basic but adequate facilities.View all reviews by edmason
This is a lovely site with clean facilities and a very friendly warden. There is a very pleasant coastal parh, which you can access directly from the site. We stayed two nights and would go again.View all reviews by Fiona5834

Stopped 2 nights whilst touring the coast as it seemed the 'thing to do'. As previously stated, not a lot at the village except souvenir shops, hotel, foot ferry and seabirds...plus the obligatory signpost photo op.View all reviews by nickyjmg
Facilities clean and basic and very cold room. I didn't make use of their showers.
As you'd expect. .. amazing views, remote ish, easy access to foot ferry to Orkney and exposed to all weathers. Ok for a couple nights but nothing to bring us back.
Convenient site at the edge of mainland Scotland with friendly staff and basic facilities. We stayed two nights and took a day trip across to Orkney.View all reviews by jimcampbell
