Lovely old slightly scratty municipal site but it seems to work! And it’s FREE!
Clean facilities but no hot water.
Motorhomes only.
Easy walk into a lovely town either direct or via river crossing if river below weir.
Recomend the tuk-tuk ride out to the aqueduct for €20 and well worth the climb up to the castle and monastery.

The site is free and with loads of space , services are good and again free - whats not to like.

really nice spot. you can park where ever you like and people park good. most of it is level, people have seats and tables etc out, guy rides around checking site and police patrol around site atleast once a day so safe and secure. the site has toilets (take your own tissue), showers but are cold (you get used to it), washing up sinks but aren't that clean. toilets/shower are pretty clean. black and grey waste dumps and water. swimming pool next door (€3 adults). easy walk into the town which has plenty of restaurants, bars etc. nice gardens about 1km, castle up a steep hill and aqueduct about 3km.

Great little spot close to town. The views from Convento de Cristo are stunning and it’s only a short walk away. Plenty of bars, shops and restaurants to while away a day.

For a free site, it's great. Toilets, (cold) showers on site, sinks for laundry, seating areas. An old campsite so lots of trees and away from the road. The pitches are not really marked out but there was loads of room when we visited. Unfortunately it was raining heavily and the ground was quite soft so only stayed one night. If we'd have visited in better weather, probably would have stayed several days. Short walk into town with several tourist sites to see.

Former municipal campsite that now operates as a free aire for motorhomes only. Water, waste disposal, toilets & cold water showers available. Parking on grass with plenty of shade under trees. Very close to river & town centre. Lots of bars, restaurants & supermarkets in walking distance. The town is linked to the Knights Templar & the castle/convent on the hill is well worth a visit. Municipal pool next door to aire. Near to Tomar is the Aqueduct de Pegoes which is interesting to see.

Very peacefu,l relaxing evening and night, excellent clean facilities. Bread van in the morning. Grass and trees for shade. Pleasant short walk along the river to the historic sites. A free, secure five star site just for motorhomes. Much better than many paying camp sites.

On a former campsite, this is looking uncared for but is much better than the average tarmac aire with grassy plots, trees, daytime guard, good services; all free!. Quiet at night, bread van visits in the morning. Next to sports complex with games occurring at weekends. Bars, restaurants & small supermarkets nearby. Convent a bit neglected & some of it was closed due to rain. Matchbox museum worth a visit for 30 minutes. Very little exercise available for dogs but a good place to stay.

Great place to stay with access to supermarkets and local shops close by. Access can be tight for larger motorhomes, follow the signs. The site is well laid out with shade or open sites to choose from. There are toilers and washing facilities and as you enter the site the left is well lit. To top it all its free. Tomar is a vibrant town with the highlight being the castle and convent, an absolute must at 6€.

Great place to stay for a few days. Toilet facilities are kept spotlessly clean (closed from about 5pm - 8am) with cold water showers available. Parking available in shade or sun. So much to see in Tomar. A must see is the castle and monastery which is linked to an aqueduct that runs for about 4 miles. Possible to walk to get access to a point about half way along it, then follow it back to the monastery. Don't forget to visit the Matchbox Museum!

This was one of our favourite places in Portugal. From what I have found out, it is still very good, but with no EHU or hot water - and for the present is free.
Short walk into beautiful town with lots to see, especially the citadel that was once HQ of Knights Templar, then a convent. Lots of shops, cafés, restaurants etc.
We are planning on going back in September/October.
Can only honestly rate location and view, until we go back.
The local press story show us with other "disgruntled" campers!
