One of those must visit museums as most of us have heard of the story of the great escape.View all reviews by jezabel
We were given lots of info by the man on reception, watched a very informative short film then walked round the museum the rebuilt hut and the memorial. We learnt not just about the story we all know but about the other camps in the area both concentration and POW. The weather was not good so we will return to tour more of the area and town.
A bucket list afternoon for any real fan of the Great Escape. A very pleasant chap at the museum.. full of info. Short drive to tunnel Harry and the memorial to the fifty. Stayed overnight in the museum car park with permission... A very quiet night.View all reviews by paulfoley
Toilets available when museum is open.
Large car park, with no facilities. The museum is closed on Mondays. Would recommend driving to the exit points from the POW camp as there is no footpath on a very busy road. With the museum on the right, just drive past the industrial units turn right and keep to the left. This was an interesting visit and piece of history.View all reviews by wendyogden
A unique spot to stay, right at the museum. Had two nights here on the waste ground so we were out of the way - the museum is great and only £1 per person. You can walk or cycle to Harry's tunnel about 1 mile away which has been turned into a memorial of those who tried escaping and the unmarked cemetery is about 1/2 mile to the right of the museum. A serene place, which has no original signs of the old camp, just reconstructed huts, although still is a great place to come pay your respects.View all reviews by themotoroamers
If you're a fan of the film The Great Escape then this is a must see. It's where the real escape was made and the film got the information, they also done some filming here. Many original exhibits and a very very enthusiastic man on reception who is full of information. The town of Zagen is a short distance away as is the memorial. There are toilets in the museum when open.View all reviews by tinka
