Lovely safe free overnight stop with views over lake. Locals very friendly, pleasant 5min walk into village. Had breakfast at cafe which was bob on. Level gravel parking. Would have loved to walk round lake but it was persistent rain and nobody loves wet dogs in the van ???? !!

currently staying on castle loch, lovely location, very quiet, village is a larl gem, had a pint in the crown, cracking beer garden, bakery also top class too, cottage pies are to die for. Thank you to the lovely couple from Kendal who recommended Green Frog, really enjoyed it and what a bargain.

Lovely spot right on the loch. We spent ages sitting in the van watching hundreds of swallows swooping over the loch. Car park was quiet when we arrived late afternoon but got busy in the evening with joggers and bowlers, but quietened down again later. A few boy racers but didn't stay long. Village is short walk away..not much open when we were there but it was a Monday. There are a couple of pubs and a Chinese takeaway (closed when we were there) Beautiful forest walks around loch from car park.

A really nice spot right by the loch, next to the bowling club and a short walk into town. A couple of circuits around the loch run right through the car-park, well worth a walk.

Location is good. Town has pubs, pharmacy, bakers, cafe and chippy. We stayed on a Friday night. There were some cars in and out until about midnight. Next morning a lot of litter had been left (there is a bin) lying about. I picked up the pieces I was prepared to touch. Later talking to one of the Bowling Club guys he said it happens often. Didn’t feel unsafe just a nuisance. View over the loch is nice on a sunny morning.

Fantastic stopover on the way further north. 5 miles from the A74M. Quiet night with only slight road noise. Great place for the dog to have a run/swim.

Fantastic location behind the bowling green at the edge of Castle Loch. 5 minute walk into the village which has a small shop, bakery, pubs and chip shop. Ideal as a stop over or longer if walking, fishing, cycling, bowling or tennis is your thing.

Small location just off a small road but the road through town is busy in daytime. Parking is at edge of loch, level and gravel. Waste bin by Club entrance. Bowl club busy on arrival but closed at 8pm and area cleared except for another small VW camper next to us. Walked 5 minutes to centre of village. Baker/tea shop, grocers and greengrocer all close by. No supermarkets.
