Great welcome, busy little pub, lovely meal, level car park and very peaceful night, what's not to like. Would definitely recommend.????View all reviews by sanjay

Sophie the proprietor was so friendly and we were made to feel very welcome.
Would certainly go there again
First time out with a Motor Home , decided to get up and go from Dorset , phoned Rising Sun on route to check OK to stay for the night, no problem. Arrived around 8.00 . busy little country pub . Free house. Owners had only been their a few weeks, we were made to feel welcome, biscuits for the dogs, excellent Beer , plenty of good food on the plate , pub busy with a good local crowd and it was reasonably priced, would defiantly go back againView all reviews by corkscrewguy
Just a few minutes off the A48 this is a lovely quiet spot to park up. The welcome in the pub was great and the food excellent, both quality and value. They are rightly known for their pies which are the best I've ever had. All the food is home made. There is water available for topping up but no other facilities. Just one note of caution - the current landlord said they are trying to sell so cannot vouch for the future.View all reviews by aajjii
The Rising Sun, Lydney. Great pub to stopover. Fantastic pies! Very warm welcome. Right in the country. Car park not huge but flat and very quiet. Woke to bird song and our neighbour was a lama!View all reviews by cmoon
