So the reservoir can flood the roman baths? That’s awful; the authorities seem to be restoring the neighboring roman ruin so it’s surprising.View all reviews by cshel
October levels were very low, and there were plenty of parking spaces, though we had rain in the evening and sunshine at dawn - lovely. Uncrowded, and unique experience.
How fabulous it is to soak in those hot baths!
Next day we headed south to Geres in Portugal, a hairy mountainous hairpin route - exciting in retrospect, scary at the time!
It appears that the levels of the lake have risen! This is now completely under water! You can see the tops of notice boards and railings about 20 feet out in to the. Much more water, or a bigger moho and we would not have been able to turn round to get back to the road. The signst for the Termas are still on the road, and the way down is steep and narrow.View all reviews by angelal
The baths were flooded at New Year, but then water levels in all the rivers were high. There is clearly work going on to renovate the area, but it is all wasted when under water. Turning space was very limited even for 6m and the steep single track makes the approach challenging, but a lovely place .... we didn't stop long as the only suitable space was the turning space ...View all reviews by vanessavan
(Scores are for how I imagine it to be when the water is down, not when flooded)
An absolutely stunning location, not to be missed. Camping right next to 2000 year old Roman thermal baths, that you can relax in day or night. There are absolutely no facilities here except a bin some come prepared and leave only footprints. The access road down to the Lakeshore is very steep single track, so larger motorhomes will struggle and it gets very busy at weekends with families bbqing. Wait until the cars have gone and the lakeside spots are flat with the best views. We stayed 3nights and will definitely be back. There is a nice walk along the lake where you can see the ruins of a Roman garrison and small visitors centre.View all reviews by CNelmes
