This is an absolutely fabulous stop. If you have dogs there are plenty of walks. Its quiet & peaceful & its free. No services, but fab view. Boats along canal in the morning. We stopped 1 night, I probaly could happily have stayed 2 or 3

A pleasant site with plenty of parking and suitable for large motorhomes. No facilities but a great location to watch the boats and also the nearby “ old boatlift “
The only downside is the bins dont seem to get emptied so please be prepared to take your rubbish away .
Very quiet with plenty of cycle paths in all directions

Love it here, great canal view and walks along the old and new canals. The boat lifts are interesting and you can take a boat trip with a ride on the lift.

Lovely find.. 2hrs from Calais, we stopped on our return journey. Quite busy on our arrival but still plenty of room. As others have said plenty to watch with the boats and barges passing and fishermen. Busy cycle paths. Idle dog walking area. The bakers is a must....

A pretty and interesting free stop. Bread over the bridge in the village and good dog walks along the canal. Fishermen arrived about 5 am so not full marks, but nice!

Great overnight stop about 2.5 hours from Tunnel. Access easy but don’t be fooled into thinking the turning is for the services, take it! Fishermen were there when we woke up at 5:30 but didn’t hear them set up. Obviously very popular as MHs from many countries, but plenty of space to accommodate everyone. Will use again.

A large free parking area on overlooking the new canal with barges and pleasure boats passing. The old canal and marina are situated over some grass behind the parking area. 5 minutes walk and you can view the old boat lift and about a mile up the road through the village or along the canal is the impressive modern boat lift which lifts/lowers canal boats over 70m. The village is just over the bridge and has a bakery but not much else that I could see. No facilities on site.

Great spot. Parked by the canal and watched the barges go by. Canal lift visitor centre closed until October which is a shame. Biked to the top of the lift for super views. Canal lift is amazing and worth taking the time to watch the barges going through.

Good place to park up. We got the train to Mons for the day. Station is along the path under the lift. It cost €5.40 per adult and children under 12 go free. Mons was lovely, we stroked the brass monkey’s head for good luck. Park up was quiet all night. There is a P with a line through it. Not sure whether that means no parking but we weren’t the only ones there. I would avoid parking to close to the running water if your dreams are affected by what you can hear while asleep!

A pleasant, quiet stopover by the canal; welcome respite from some of the run down industrial desolation in the area. Easy walk up to the old boat lift.

Good stopover on the canal,no services but service area about 10 mile away on the motorway if heading north. Boat lift close by which is the tallest in the world ,not a lot in town but nice boulangerie. Free parking on concrete and a nice walk down the canal to the boat lift.

Just wanted to confirm that this is still a great place to stop. Right next to canal and the lifting bridges look great.
Stayed here after getting off the tunnel at 10pm. Just about my limit at that time of night but worth it.

Large quay side with plenty of space for parking. Close to the 19thC boat lift #3 with 17m lift, still working. Further along is the Strepy-Thieu 73m boat lift opened in 2002, impressive engineering.
