We stayed here 4th and 5th November. We were made very welcome. Had drinks in the bar on Monday night and a meal in the restaurant Tuesday night. Excellent food and service. The staff were so friendly, and helpful. We hope to go back 2020 in the summer. Thank you.

Called in advance to stay over in a 6 m motorhome. Owner was welcoming and said no use of pub necessary. Wow. When we arrived carvery 2 for 12 so of course we ate. Lovely food. Remember to book a table if you intend on eating as it was really busy. Huge flat car park no view but of course its free so didnt expect it. But get there before 5 as it was packed by 5.30.... really usefully stopover. Only about 10 min from m1.....

Another great night stopover at the 'Pod. Staff always welcoming, quiet car park and reasonably level. Didn't eat this time but always great value when we do. Enjoyed the quiz on Wednesday night and some leftover Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and gravy followed by sausage roll, scotch eggs and pork pie. We always come back here when visiting family in Barnsley.
Peter and his staff always make you welcome - highly recommended.

Great stopover, spent the day and night there in a 7.4 mtr motorhome whilst the wife was on a hen do in Leeds, staff very friendly and helpful. there was a wedding on so no home cooked food but staff recommended several take away places that deliver. Lovely level car park and very quiet at night.

We decided to just jump in our van & go somewhere not to far away for a night out. The Boatmans Rest was first on our search list so that's where we headed.
Went in & spoke to barman about potentially staying over & was told no problem at all.
We had a great night. The pub was busy & friendly & we had numerous chats with other campervaners/mohomers. Free buffet food from a wedding was given to us & was lovely. We will definitely return. Carpark was level, quiet & surrounded by a wall so felt safe

Good Pub Stopover, Very friendly welcome, Pub is like a little museum. Landlady has a Motorhome as does her son who was behind the bar on my visit, good ales and the food was great. Nice peace full night.

Arrived mid afternoon on a Wednesday. Very friendly welcome, the landlord is a 'motohomer' & was very accomodating - we parked up in corner of car park (level) without any issue.
Friendly & welcoming 'locals' pub - excellent value, good beer selection & adequate menu. Wed night = carvery night (£12 for 2) and it was fantastic. We declined an invitation to the quiz night, opting for reading & resting up before continuing our journey in the morning.
Very quiet overnight. Will go back again.

Arrived here about 6pm on a Sunday. Everyone really friendly and welcoming, but no food served on a Sunday evening as do we moved on. Large car park quite flat - looked OK.

Friendly welcome: pub with character and good food, choice and freshly cooked in well maintained restaurant. Trans Pennine Trail is about 50 yards away. We parked in the far corner of an extensive level car park (similar to m/homer in June) It was a Tuesday night, fairly busy with regulars and families, no noise after 10.30pm -very peaceful night. A hidden gem! Will visit again

Stayed last night and the landlord was very friendly. Food was well priced and portions were huge. Great pub meal. Quiet area and we had a good night's sleep.
