Absolutely stunning place to visit. The walking is fabulous, lots of paths to choose, some easier than others. Space for lots of vans and when we visited we did not have to pay for the services. The last couple of days we have had a young man going around asking for €3 to keep an eye on the place, he is just trying his luck, when challenged he points to a badge indicating that he is official. He is not. The police regularly patrol here so it is very safe. We have spoken to the police and they have assured us that this is a free aire and they will deal woth the person concerned.

What a fabulous, free, fully serviced location in the heart of the Sierra Ricote. Very spacious with direct access to walking and cycling trails. Functional supermarket in the town with a market on Tuesday. Try not to arrive when the market is on as access can be obstructed. While we were here a couple of Spanish ‘gentlemen’ were wandering around asking/demanding payment. Suitably ignored and signage appeared on the gate after a visit from the police confirming it is a free Aire. Well done Ricote.

Spent a couple of nights here and would have stayed longer but after 5 days off grid our batteries needed a boost. Water, grey and CDP all free; there is a token slot for water but it worked without tokens in January. The town is fairly ordinary but the walking is fabulous. There is designated area for motorhomes but the actual area is huge so no chance of over crowding. Would definitely return.

Found this by accident when driving through the village and decided to stay. Excellent if you have dogs and like a walk, you can follow the well signposted walk of the moors. We had lunch in the superb El Sordo restaurant just a 5 minute walk away, €50 for 2 courses, 2 beers and a bottle of water, all with excellent service and we were able to make ourselves understood with our poor Spanish! 5 other vans here, plenty of space, facilities good and we felt very safe overnight. Just stay on the gravel areas if it rains as its a mudbath elsewhere.

We arrived at Ricote and were quite disappointed. It’s high up in the hills as described but quite honestly seen much better views! Village is nice but we walked around it twice within 45 mins and there’s little else to do. There’s a few local bars that seemed busy with the locals an noticed 1 big resturant that appeared popular though we didn’t try it. A quiet night but not enough to do for us it felt like we drove a long way up for very little but it was a free Aire - sadly we won’t be back

Plenty of level space with views of local mountain range. Quiet undisturbed night. Free. Water and CDP point. Short walk into village and eateries. Museum/information office of some sort and a (apparently unused) sports complex share the site. [I suspect we were the other m/home referred to in previous review!]

Enormous flat hard standing ground. Feels safe & very quiet. Two minute walk into the village. Great view when parked of the mountains & church & surrounding hills. Water & grey waste point & absolutely free. Only one other van here with us in September. Lovely cool breeze.Great for dogs. The drive was not challenging for a 7.3 metre moho. We stopped at ohio on the way in - charming village. In all only about 10 miles from the A7 Murcia.
Highly recommended.

The Valle de Ricote is beautiful and not to be missed, passed Archena. It follows the river valley and some authentic Spanish villages tucked into the mountainside. Ricote is one such village and it has a dedicated motorhome stop over with facilities, for free. Beside the sports arena, this lovely expanse of land that looks like it officially accommodates 12 vans in marked out sites, could easily home 50+ vans. The village is beautiful, full of walks, history and ancestry. Market day is Tuesday. A highly recommended spot away from the crowed south coast.
