Situated on the Romantic Road across Bavaria, which provides a scenic route for the travellers. During the Protestant Reformation it was one of a few towns, that was tolerant to both confessions and treated Roman Catholics and Protestant citizens equally.
The town features beautiful examples of Gothic, Roman, Rococo and German renaissance styles.
