Highly recommend The Ship Inn, a lovely friendly pub. Asked the landlord if we could park up (as long as we had our own facilities) & that we would be dining there. Good food, a varied menu (we both had the steak which was very nice). Dog friendly and plenty of space in the garden areas.
A 5 to 10 minute walk to the beach, perfect location which suited us.

As per Suzalan, below; excellent stopover, easy to be private in spacious car park. Outside loos are accessible during afternoon opening hours, there's a public loo 1/2 mile down beach road if needed for VW types in the morning.

Due to a few inconsiderate and rude recent motorhomes staying for 5 nights without even going into the pub. The owners have been forced to change the rules about stopovers.

Stayed overnight for Supper on Election Night. Fairly level carpark and pub toilets open 24hrs. Good value wholesum meal with large portions. Welcoming landlord and family who have only had the Freehold for a few weeks. Very dog friendly like the nearby beach which is dog friendly all year round. To get to the beach walk 200 metres along the road and through the very large long stay carpark but note that is only open to campervans from 0800 to 2300.

A very friendly welcome from the Ship Inn.
Free to stay if you use the bar.
The food was very tasty, nothing fancy but traditional pub food.
Good array of ale and gin behind the bar.
The dogs were very welcome too and the dog friendly beach down the road was a brilliant place to allow the dogs to have a good run around too.
The toilets are left open overnight if required and there is a fresh water hose for you to fill up the van.
We will definately stay here again if in the area.

Very busy stopover, 11 motorhomes there when we arrived, a lot stay for the weekend and one had been there for weeks. We had a great welcome from the landlady, and the pub is very doggy friendly. Right next to a doggy friendly beach too so we all had a great walk before eating in the pub. The food is ok, just ok.....Apparently it is just about to be taken over by new owners and there is a little uncertaintly by the regular users as to what is going to happen with the motorhome stopover facility. Its a great place to stay so ???? it stays motorhome friendly!

The pub with everything! Close to the beach, a short walk through the car park and you are there! Lively pub even just out of season and is popular with the locals. We had a good meal of cod and chips and even though the pub was crowded we were served very quickly. We wanted to watch the rugby (workd cup) on the Sunday morning before opening time which was fine with the landlord, but the appalling weather stuffed up the Sky dish! Connected ipad to wifi and saw the game.
Highly recommended!

We have stayed here many times. we work on a campsite and it is a great escape for our days off. at this time of year it is cheaper to stay here , ( food and drinks for 2) than it is to stay on a site, and I would have to cook. we usually get here early afternoon and always pop in to the pub and tell them we are parking and book a table for supper. the beach is approx 250 metres and is dog friendly all year. to the left of the beach is the south coast path that takes you to Polkerris. beach, pub and cafe. lovely spot to sit and enjoy the sunshine. there is a bus route nearby which takes you to St austell or Fowey. near to Helligan gardens and the Eden project. great stop

As previous reveiws, 5 minutes walk to beach ( dog friendly), park on grass area to rear of carpark. We both had carvery, fresh and hot and tasty. Good stop. Par market, a few miles up the road has some stalls that sell all sorts of stuff and has a good food hall as well.

Stayed here for one night. No charge but an expectation that you will use the pub although I am not sure how they check. We had the carvery at £6.95 plus a couple of drinks. Can't really complain at a night stop with food for under £20.00. Toilets available 24 hrs at the back of the pub. Good location for the beach or the coastal path to Fowey.

Stayed here last night having read previous reviews. Parking arrangements are adequate if you avoid grass in the wet. After a very good evening and great food.(quality and quantity) we had a quiet night. The pub is no distance from a large and dog friendly beach another great bonus point. Highly recommended.

Lovely stop

Very friendly welcome

Huge level carpark, some hard standing, some on grass, outside toilets, bins and a tap.

Very close to the beach, just a short stroll.

Had a carvery for dinner, only £5.99, lots of it and its beautiful. Its quiz night in Tuesday, book a table, it gets busy.

Only thing i would say, ignore the satnav directions, it will take you down some very small lanes. There is a much wider access through the town (check a map)

We stop here for 2 nights on are tour around Cornwall, The pub is warm and friendly and also near the sea, We had two great dinners each day, The best I've ever had in a pub for a long time, good size and not overpriced, I would of give 8 stars but for the drinks being charged from different staff at different prices. As a tourist we got charged 10p extra on a pint of beer and 15p on a glass of wine above the menu price. Which let's down a good pub.

Check your route; satnav may suggest a narrower road that would test some peoples’ nerves. Wide entrance, largely flat parking on grass or gravel. Toilets clean and open all night. Popular carvery that all appreciated. Friendly and helpful host and staff.
An easy walk to the sandy beach with an area of rock pools as well as access to a clifftop walk and nature areas.

Great dog friendly pub with dog friendly beach 2 mins walk down the road. Staff and locals were very friendly. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and they had a live brass band on outside then folk music in the pub in the evening. Food was good for the money and lovely grass area to park the van and toilets open all night.

Good stop after Eden Project, car park full, they asked us to park on grass which was OK, but imagine it would get very boggy in the wet. Good pub, good food, friendly staff.

Have not stayed over, but live locally. Par isn't the prettiest of beaches in the area but I love it. At the west end of the beach there is the old china clay works, to the east, is the coast path to Polkerris.
I'm a photographer, and visit the place daily, as the light is special. Very dog friendly. Called in the boozer tonight for research purposes (!). Bit rough and ready, nice looking carvery, and very friendly welcome from the staff and locals. Gets busy in summer months. Car park is only 100-200 yds from the beach. Free overnight stay for first night, then a tenner a night. No obvious facilities, but outside loos.
