Another night at this easy stop, in the rear corner of the car park along with another MH. No facilities unless pub open but cheap pub food and a warm welcome make this a convenient stop over. Deep holes in entrance lane filled in since our last visit so not so much of a slalom! We will certainly revisit.

couple 7m motorhome.

good nightstop. flat carpark but park between lighting post at rear of a large carpark. We called ahead and told us they expected you to have a drink. We did and also food. Both fantastic value. See their website for some great offers. Great location for river walks and just 7 miles from Calke Abbey the unstately home.

We arranged our stopover by email with Pippa. Nothing was too much trouble and we arrived and parked on the right hand side of the large, level car park as requested.
We did go into the pub for a meal and again it was warm and welcoming. A great variety of food plus dpecials on offer.
We opted for the two 10oz rump steaks for £18.99, with a free bottle of house wine.
Definitely one to visit within easy reach of the A50. Our satnav took us along easily navigable roads.
No facilities unless the oub is open, then you have access to toilets

Amazingly cheap pub food! Stayed a Thursday night and car park was 75% empty, well lit though and plenty of space for motorhomes. River was very full but little chance of flooding. As others have said would be packed in summer. Only facilities are toilets during opening hours.
A great value stop if you visit their website and sign up for vouchers and codes.

We stayed on the hottest day of the year and it was heaving and they just couldn't cope.
The menu was great for steaks and great value. We ordered 2 x fillet steaks for £27.99 incl a bottle of wine. Unfortunately it took 1hr 15 to arrive and was way way overcooked, just charred remains! Queues at bar we 20+ mins to get a drink.
Big flat car park so stopover was fine, as others said you can hear road noise. It's also quite narrow lanes to get to its isolated location.
We will come back and try again when it's not as busy.

Great value for money would recommend. If you walk 250 yards back along the road you can cross the canal and enjoy a nice long walk. Easy to get to from A50 even in an 8.5m van. A little bit of background noise from the road but only if you really listen. Lovely beer garden and room for kids to play. Only drawback no dogs in the bar.

Stopped here midweek on the way up North. Large car park with plenty of space at canal side pub. Great food with plenty of special offers, i.e. Two 10oz rump steaks and bottle of wine for £17.99. Large beer garden with canal at the bottom, unfortunately though the footpath is the on the opposite bank with no obvious way to cross close by. The A50 can be heard in the background but not too intrusive. Overall a great pubstop and would recommend if in the area.

Stayed Saturday night very busy. Emailed in advance and received response from Pippa that it was good to stay and not to forget special offers on the menu. Spend £25 or more on food to get a free bottle of wine. Food good value and very nice. Excellent service by all the staff and very friendly. Daughter at Derby university so will stay here again. Couldn't here the traffic noise.

A super canalside pub with large outdoor garden.with access to canal plenty of room inside and out. Also upstairs dining with a bar.A warm welcome from manager and staff. Free overnight no facilities. We loved it. You can hear the busy road 250 meters away but traffic noise no problem for us City folk just nice to be in the country.
