A great find. A call before arriving and we were given a level space to park which looked out onto the fields at the back. The pub itself was clean and polished, not a fly in sight! The menu was extensive and the food was excellent and fairly priced. Several local ales on tap. Staff were friendly and helpful. All in all a great place to stop off on our way up the M6 which is not too far away.

A great find. Very friendly when i phoned to check if ok. Reasonable car park, easy to park flat. Pub very welcoming they had reserved a table for me and my 2 dogs. Excellent menu choices, excellent food and very welcoming. I highly recommend. Great stopover en route to Scotland and if i had more time the area is beautiful as well.

Arrived at 5pm along with 3 other MHs. Landlord came out and helped us all find parking spots. What a perfect gent. The pub has a really warm welcome, lovely friendly staff, great food and no rush. They supply board games, we played pool and WIFI works in car park. Landlord completely MH supportive! Fantastic stay.

The car park is fairly small on a slight slope so ramps needed. In the bar there was a young woman who was polite but not really up for a chat. The room was full of flies with flypapers hanging all over but we ordered two small roast meals and a couple of drinks. The meals came after 30 minutes and it was as if they had been taken out of a hot cupboard. Both meats were dry, the mash had a skin and the roasties were soft, the beans hadn't been topped & tailed and all was luke warm. Told the lady who offered to warm them up (microwave?) said no thanks. Other diners complained. Paid, and left, stayed at nearby wild spot. Won't be back!

We stayed here for 2 nights on a visit with friends who also have a Motorhome. Our van is 3m & there is plenty of room for around 3/4 Motorhomes. The staff were very welcoming & we had access to water & use of the pub toilets. We ate in the restaurant on the first night & had a couple of drinks on the second. Free WiFi is also available which, bizarrely is better in the car park than in the pub itself.
It was a good base for visiting Penrith & Keswick.

7.5 meter motorhome we stopped on the way back home to Glasgow on a Thursday night, we went in prior to parking to ask if it was ok and we were made more than welcome.
There was no problem parking as the rear car park was quiet.
We went in and had a lovely meal as it was Valentines night andwe will definetly stop here again

Stopped for the night here on Feb 15th 2019. Unfortunately we arrived after dinner service so stayed for a few drinks before retiring. They did say we should have phoned ahead and they would have cooked us something. Friendly locals and good beer. Would definitely stay again.

Found this pub as a last resort to bed down for the night was not disappointed. Free parking but we had a meal which was fantastic added bonus free internet which was accessible from the car park what more can you want. Had use of the toilets and a great big field to walk the dogs and also let into the pub what a find.

Lovely pub with a quiet level car park at the back, in a quiet village close to the m6. Menu in pub was extensive and difficult to choose from! Friendly welcoming staff. Great as a stopover for the night. Would definitely return.

This pub/small hotel is located near Shap in the Lake District and is in a good location for visiting Keswick and surrounding areas. We visit regularly in our motorhome which is 7.5m so parking is a bit tight but not a major problem . The staff and landlord are very friendly as are the locals . The food and wine is excellent and there is no problem with our dog joining us in the bar when we eat . We highly recommend this stop over which we use on our way home from the South when heading home to Northumberland !!!!
