The Spotted Dog is in the hamlet of Smarts Hill and was converted from a series of cottages around 500 years ago. We are a friendly, local pub that welcomes all guests, including those with paws and wagging tails (we are dog-friendly!).
Despite our tranquil and picturesque location, we are situated between the market town of Tonbridge (6.8 miles) and the spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells (5.7 miles). We are a stone’s throw away from Penshurst Place, a grand 14th century manor house once belonging to Henry VIII. Also located nearby is Chiddingstone Village, one of Kent’s oldest villages dating back to Tudor times and protected by the National Trust, and the impressive 13th century Hever Castle, once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn.
For those of you who love the outdoors, we are surrounded by some fabulous walking and hiking routes. So why not drop your vehicle off in our spacious car park, perambulate at your leisure, and then treat yourself afterwards back at The Spotted Dog?
