The correct name for this stop is The D Day Story. We didn't camp overnight as we were put off by the previous reviews. But we did park up for 6hs at £6.50 and explore the area. The Museum is well worth the £10 entrance fee and has a cafeteria.View all reviews by tankiemike
After the chip shop closes, the people of the night arrive. This place is dangerous. Do not go there. Chavs, Druggies, Dough-nutters, boy racers, Motorbike hoolies, all aggressive and banging on your Moho. Police do not patrol, or care. Someone is going to get killed here, keep away. You have been warned.View all reviews by montybe
NOT RECOMMENDED FOR WEEKEND NIGHTS. D-Day Museum is closed until spring 2018 for refurbishment so car park was pretty empty during day. We parked on esplanade for afternoon and evening but didn't fancy sleeping on roadside so after family 'do' in local hotel moved to the museum car park at gone midnight. All seemed well until the boy racers came to fire up their turbos at 1am and seemed to come and go through the night but I think we got a 3 hour undisturbed spell. (They were only interested in their cars so not a threat just annoying). Parking charges apply from 8am until 8pm but there was a 24 hour charge of £12. We had a ticket from Esplanade that for some inexplicable reason should have run out at 08.20 pm on the Saturday but ran until 08.20am on Sunday so we left that in window! We did get our 6m moho into a bay but had to be selective.View all reviews by barcud
Arrived at 16.30 on 12th Jan only vehicle on large car park. Went to reception to politely ask if we were ok to park and the lady rang the parking office in Portsmouth to be told Yes but don't park in the coach bays and if you over hang the lines you must pay for extra bays, so 30ft RV would need 4 bays £40 and no lecky , nice lady behind counter says park on road opposite its free after 18.00.
