Nice quiet spot, best to arrive late afternoon after the majority of the cars have left. finding somewhere level can be an issue, but a good set of ramps will see you ok.

Spent the night without others or any disturbance. One of the best views in the Peak District. Slight slope, need chocks. Short walk to the summit of Mam Tor. Sheltered from S/W wind.

One of my favourite stopover this trip. Castleton is an 25 minute walk and a lovely little town. Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese worth a visit, had a nice Sunday lunch there. Site nice and quiet....we parked by the Crushing Circle at the foot of Mam Tor. Few others parked up but nice and quiet and beautiful mountain view.

Arrived late and woke up the next morning to thick mist, so no views, but when it's clear the views are beautiful! Heard a few vehicles through the night, but otherwise it was quiet - no idea if we were there alone or not! Seems like plenty of room to park up, though I guess it gets very packed in summer. Will definitely be back and hopefully pick a clear weather day next time.

Like other reviewers we chose this location for our first off site camp yesterday. There were only a couple of other vehicles overnight, however during the evening there was a stream of cars heading down to the turning circle. We stayed at the top parked against the wooden fence opposite the Blue John Cavern. It was perfectly level and had splendid views. Away from all the action lower down we felt safe and secure.

Cracking over night stop. We arrived around 1730 from N.Wales on our way back to Lincolnshire and parked up no problem. Went for a lovely walk before dinner and chattered to some fellow MH owners. No hassle at all, a few cars come down but headed out again. No facilities at all, even had a look around the shop and cafe for an outside tap but no joy. TV reception is fine and great 4G coverage. The car park did start to get busy around 1100 but it was Bank Holiday Monday!! We will be heading back!

Stopped here many times with no trouble, very busy spot all year round. Approx 2 mile down hill to Castleton with many shops and pubs. Not much choking to level out and as has been said it can be a windy night but safe. Be aware quite an incline when leaving if it snows or frosty.Blue John mine cafe on site and toilet if your using there facilities.

Just spent my last night out of 9 here. Walked past a few days before and saw Motorhomes parked up, so thought I would give it a try. Utterly fantastic views, easy access but would recommend people consider if they should take Winnatts Pass (extreme gradient) up from Castleton or come via another direction...your choice. Several spots to park up, all on a gradient, no facilities but quiet...and those views...

Parked away from main car park area by Blue John entrance, just before bus/turning circle. Sufficient room for about 3 vans off the main carriageway. Slight gradient- managed without chocks. Busy during day but quiet evening (after closing time) and night (weekday) . Worthwhile for the views. I think the last service bus was yonks ago, but the bus shelter must keep walkers dry! .also a small cafe at entrance, but noticed it has a very noisy outside fridge compressor running at night

Didn't realise we hadn't reviewed! Great overnight or weekend stop. Can be busy in the summer, but in February, lovely! We parked up near the entrance to the Cavern road and just up from the cafe (not open Feb!) Quiet night and awoke to snow and a couple of supercars wheel spinning up the road on the snow, turning it into an ice rink. No facilities to speak of, but well worth a stopover. (Took us 20 mins to get up the hill in first on tickover. Walkers passed us!)

Stayed here on our first wild camp, beautiful location and a great place to go walking the following morning. It's quite a long way into the village so you'll need to bring everything with you. Obviously no facilities out here but nice and quiet and with great views. There's plenty of space for probably 5 or more motorhomes and another parking place nearby in case this one's full.

We stayed here in Feb, best place to stop is opposite the mine as it's the most level. Fantastic views and no traffic. Had fun leaving in the morning as the road had iced over. We have a 8.2m motorhe me and there is plenty of room.

One of my favourite spots in Derbyshire! Parking is available all along this road but the views are better near the bus turning circle, its a dead end road, so no passing traffic with only the occasional car turning around. Great place for the beginning of walks in many directions, parking of which is free during the day. Blue John mine and its cafe are only 50 metres away so a great place to stay overnight, if its a windy night,it may be better parking further up the road or moving to the nearby "Hope Valley" parking spot.
