Fantastic little stopover, local to me so this is the 2nd stop. Its generally very quiet, cyclists/walkers passing every now and then. Did notice on the 2nd visit that it is used by "boy racer" type visits, 4 cars stayed for about 30 minutes and littered everywhere, we collected the litter and took it home because it was a mess. Other than that, no trouble, great views, lots of nature and a nice stop.View all reviews by samhicton

We parked up late in the dark, no issues whatsoever, very quiet and no other campervans or cars arrived during the night. In the morning just a dog walker. Low cloud so couldn't see the view but can imagine it would be stunning on a clear day.View all reviews by toxinufa

Great stop. Arrived at about 8pm and headed up to the top near the bend. We were the only one on this bit, though there was one other campervan further down the road. When we woke up the view was really nice. Peaceful nights sleep with no passing traffic through the night. Only the odd vehicle, cyclist or walker in the morning. There are no bins or facilities, so need to be self-contained. Was the perfect spot for us as we wanted to spend the day in Bakewell which is only a 12min drive.View all reviews by mhitchin

As I live and work in the area I can't say what it's like coming from a visitors point of view but I can say that it is incredibly beautiful from the top but it can also be a bit wild in bad weather. The road in from Longstone needs caution as it is quite narrow, the route in from the A623 is slightly wider and easier. There are 3 pubs within walking distance (for good walkers) the Crispin, the White Lion and in Little Longstone there is the Packhorse. The later well worth the extra mile.View all reviews by Dizzie

Unsafe! Beware of youths causing late night mayhem! We thought it was safe here and it’s a beautiful spot, there was another van parked up when we pulled in. All was quiet until about 9pm on Saturday night when kids on mopeds started razzing up and down the road and pulling up doing skids and turns in the lay by. We sat tight but we didn’t feel safe, then they started chucking glass bottles and rocks at our van and up against the cliffs behind. We actually felt really terrified. Such a shame.View all reviews by Camperjo

incredible place to stay! sunset and sunrise positions are perfect. really quiet. I was the only one here to stay, one motorhome was up the road at a different layby. 2 loud cars pulled up for 15 mins at about 22:30.... kept my head down!!View all reviews by conqs

Overnighted (2) on the wider part tarmaced strip near the top bend. Windy and one or two visitors. Watch out for silent lycra warriors attempting to break the sound barrier pedalling furiously down the hill and round bends! Best approach for larger vans is from the B6465 near its junction with A623. Stunning views on wide panorama. Great Longstone village/shops/pub at the bottom of the hill, as is Monsal Head.View all reviews by sagalout

Lovely spot can see for miles! Views are amazing. Parked overnight, no problems. Take all you need as no shops. Great for walking dogs or just chill out. There's a few spots further up where you can park up. Appreciate the views. It can get very windy but all part of the moors experienceView all reviews by kaarontf

The postcode on here got me to the bottom of the hill, I kept climbing and stopped at the layby on the photo. But in the morning when I drove to top of the hill there is a more level and bigger layby with better views. It has a patch of tarmac but mostly gravel with some potholes, but seemed fine.View all reviews by lennyriver
The one I stayed on was also gravel but no noticeable potholes, a slight incline but ok. Some traffic but not too bad. Lovely views. Eyam is close by and worth a visit
