We really enjoyed our night over here, cant believe we could park so close to the chateau. It was busy even at the end of october. We had a lovely walk around the town in the morning. Toilets were the “hole in the floor” type but clean enough. We plan on revisiting in warmer days.

Beautiful location below an imposing Chateau. The Aire was very popular and full all but two places when we arrived about 3pm . Normally 7 places available. Walks along a lovely river. Steep but worthwhile climb to the town and a visit to the Chateau a must. Toilet emptying ok but 2 Euros for any water.

Pleasant aire in the shade of the chateau & next to car park green park, river, canoe club & hostel. 6 spaces which are not very long, anything over 8 metres may have to park in the car parking places. Two routes into town, straight up lots of steps to the left of chateau or a slightly more winding route to the right. Town pleasant with good tourist trail to explore & a nice bakers on the main square. Some road noise & early departures from the hostel.

This was a lifesaver after trying to park in two Aires (Blois & Meung sur Loire) that were both closed. Fantastic free Aire with services (loo is a squat which was the only downer for me) that had very easy access and lovely position between river and castle. Town itself isn't particularly exciting but very easy to get to centre - approx 5-10 min walk up a winding hill pathway. However, we had a great dinner up there, plenty of choice.

Great stopover. Beautiful Aire overlooked by the very imposing Chataeu. lots of walks around and beautiful sunsets from the high up vantage points. the Aire will be packed most night, so if you don't like being close to your neighbour, give it a miss. there is a toilet, but it is a squatter. the river and park make this as serene as an Aire can be at the junction of two roads.

Chateaudun is quite a place, but you have to do steps! Very steep to get up to the market area and the chateau. The river is pretty with ducks and a park. A really nice place to spend a day.
The parking is flat and the aire was full when we stopped over. The view is of the loos, but the river is just to the side. Cassette flush was working but we didn't try to fill up with water.

Great free aire on riverbank. Good access but busy. Deffo use again as it's virtually on the route home. All facilities available for free except electricity which I believe is €2. About 5 hours from Calais and 10 hours from San Sebastián.We have a Facebook page to record our travels - if you search for Betty Bolero & "like" the page, then scroll down to find photos & write ups for this area if you fancy. A aire with services beneath the chateau and next to the river and canoe club. The adjacent road was fairly busy road but quiet at night. Others have mentioned good river walks but we couldn’t find them in the immediate area due to allotments and private gardens, therefore it was no good for our dogs. The chateau looked impressive from down below and if we’d have had more time, we would have climbed the multitude of steps to visit the town

2nd time we have been here.Lovely spot beside the river in the shadow of the Chateau. Services and toilets. Getting there, travelling up from the south, takes you through some narrow streets so care needed. Town itself is "up a hill" - but views when you get up there are worth it. Marked bays for the motorhomes, car park also used by the public and the Canoe club. Nice spot to sit by the river.

Close to the chateau, river and town. Peaceful place for a couple of nights. There are two ways into the town. The most southerly route is very narrow through the town, had to keep waiting for oncoming vehicles. The route in from the north is much better.
