Not our type of place. Windswept and a bit isolated. There is no water available, tap was locked. The waitress in the cafe was quite pleasant. Ample room for MH,s though. We moved on.

Wow what a location even at the end of December on a stormy sort of day.
Staff in the cafe were lovely, we only had a drink as we had already eaten but the menu looked good and there is a little shop area with local produce and basic easentials.
Definately one of our top 10 places of the last 20 years.

Stayed here last night with 5 other units, felt safe had a good night with no noise. A lovely spot with fantastic views.
Speaking to locals and reading the web site this lovely facility is under preasure from the anti moter home locals, people are ignoring the few simple rules about the use of the place and sneek away without leaving any donation. Dont give the anties amunition to use in their efforts to remove this facility. The rules of use are clearly layed out on this site and at the location, if you cant stick to them move on then people who can park in the marked area, not empty their toilets in the public toilets, and are prepared to make a donation can continue to enjoy the site.

15 mins from Dumfries. This site and the one at Caelaverock corner is run by the local community. They prefer that you park in the unmarked bays as the car park is used by the local businesses. There is an honesty box for donations which are currently being saved for Xmas dinner for the local oap's. The toilets are open till dusk but water and greywaste disposal is at the other site. Very scenic and busy. The vans were quite cramped but a quiet night.

This was really nice place to stop the night. Right on the river, a pub over the road. Public toilet OK. Payment of donation in honesty box. Very popular with motorhomes and campervans. Some ignored the rules about where to park. Let’s not give the locals reason to complain and shut the site to us.

Good popular park-up. Heading back South, it was a lovely place to breakfast watching the heron having his. Ate at the pub, which does takeaway fish and chips, and the meal was fine. Left the requested amount.

Excellent stopover, clean toilets with water facilities, pub and restaurant next door, this place is loved by the locals, if there is one downside too many large motorhomes parking over 3 bays, if there is no room, move on.

Lovely site. Arrived at 8.30pm. All the motorhome slots were taken but you can use the normal car park slots between 9pm and 9am. We are only 6m and we easily fit on. Peaceful night, lovely view. Left a £5 donation in the honesty box.

As with the previous reviews its a wonderful location, we are fortunate to be the only 3 overnight motorhomes on at the end of a hot Easter Break. No services public toilets but the recently opened Boathouse cafe looks very good, kitchen opens at 10am.
The site is maintained by Caverlock Community Association during our stay the grass was was cut and the toilets were cleaned. Honestly box provided, or you can donate online ( details on the notice board) with an opportunity to leave a message. I did this and thanked them for the facility.

Fabulous spot on the edge of the estuary. The downside is because its a fab spot too many motorhomers cram in (the signs state 5 vans max). There were 12 vans the night we stayed. The toilet block is signed asking motorhomers not to empty cassettes due to blocking & mess however this didn't stop some ignorant folks emptying. The honesty box is hidden away & hardly anyone donated whilst we were there (we were parked beside it). Cafe good food & service.

Beautiful spot set on the river. Wonderful views. Toilets during daytime, but no other facilities. Free to stop, with an honesty box provided for donations towards the upkeep. Motorhomes are very welcome here. Room for five in the designated area. The Boathouse Cafe is open again and busy on the Sunday I was here. Hotel opposite with a public bar if you fancy a pint. I’ll be back here for certain.

Stayed at this site for 2 nights. Beautiful location, quiet and peaceful. Public toilets a few yards from carpark. Honesty box in village shop. We have added it to our list of favourites and will most definitely be back. Would highly recommend a stopover for a day or two or more.

Stayed here for the night last Thursday.
Pleasant views, plenty of room to park and quiet at night.
The only thing to bear in mind is that builders are working on a building opposite side of road, so a bit noisy first thing 8am onwards. Otherwise a great stop over!

Arrived about 6 and there were already 4 vans on site, by the end of the day there were 7in total. The bays aren't marked out and I'd say the maximum would be 9. It's a lovely spot with a great village feel and a warm welcome from the locals that came by. We had a quite night. The toilets are clean with a disable toilet on site, but you'll need a radar key. The shop had a good choice of the basics and the morning papers. If you need takeaway you'll need to pick it up in Dumfries. Don't forget to make the donation ...

Great place in a quiet village. We parked on the pier. There is a toilet on site open 8am to 8pm, a shop, cafe and hotel restaurant. A bus service operates to Dumfries should you wish to visit. Parking is free with a box for donations if you want give. Money raised goes towards petrol for the lawn mower used to keep the grass tidy.
