I have just received an email from Dover Council. It states that while parking overnight is OK, you are not allowed to stay in the vehicle. I have posted the email in the photo section. Take your chances if you like, but arriving home to a fine on the mat is not my choice of how to end a holiday. But you make your own minds up.

I also have an email from the council (its my council) saying that staying a night or two is perfectly ok (you won't be woken in the middle of the night) BUT YOU MUST PARK IN THE RIGHT PLACE! Which is the west end of Marine Parade. Every where else has signs saying cars only but so many people ignore them that soon ALL motorhomes will be banned. Please follow the rules.

Arrived Sunday afternoon and left early Monday morning. Very quiet apart from the occasional lorry passing by. We didn't find notices saying cars / bikes only when we checked the pay and display regulations - perhaps they vary along the length of the parade? In future we will park up by the Yacht club; there is a convenient underpass to town just there and I can recommend the Nass Fish Bar beyond the town hall for supper. Really good fish and chips cooked to order

Arrived early for ferry so came to this recommended parking at 5.50pm. Lovely views but signs do clearly state "cars/motorbikes only at any time" in addition to the Pay at Meter 9am-5pm. We're staying in the motorhome for just a few hours. Four others and a caravan parked up too!!

Great place for overnighting before an early ferry. There were at least 20 other motorhomes parked up around us with plenty of space. Daytime parking charge between 9am & 5pm. And the free. We arrived at 5pm and were gone by 5.30am and it's just a 10 minute drive to the ferry. Quiet at night an no one bothered us. Perfect! Will definitely stop here again.

Arrived this evening (11 June) to find signs saying parking for cars and bikes only at any time. There were still a number of vans parked up but we didn't want to chance it so moved on.

Great place to stopover if you have an early ferry. Take your ear plugs to avoid being woken by the tannoys and boy racers.

A regular stop for continental travellers. Charges now from 9am to 5pm including Sunday's and holidays. No toilet facilities except one 10-4pm. Residents in Gateway flats take photos and publish in local papers of persons using bushes, beach etc. Or leaving rubbish. Usually of small vans without facilities. This is to try to get m/home parking banned.
White lined bays with spaces (not full white lines) are guidelines only and you do not have to pay for two bays!
New Bluebird trails, (Vera Lynn blue birds over white cliffs of Dover).
Town accessible by underpass. Signage not that good - Ask!

Ideal overnight stop whilst waiting for the ferry although the police inform us that because of trouble with Irish travellers/gypsies, the spaces available for motorhomes are more limited.

No facilities but it is roadside parking
Excellent stop so you are ready for an early morning crossing on the ferry
Arrived about 5pm and paid the parking - this ensured we got a spot as there were quite a few people with the same idea as us
Had a walk around the seafront and watched some ferrys entering the port
This is a good spot and a nice way to start your adventure

Used this stop many times before the ferry. Minutes from the port so you miss any traffic that is stacked up. Its just parking on the riad so a little noise is expected. Park at the top end near the roundabout and its quiet *esplanade end*
