Very quiet and secluded location. Quite isolated. Someone in another MH told us the National Trust representative will occasionally knock on your door early morning and ask for a contribution to the National Trust if you do not display your membership sticker. No facilities or view other than woodland but beautiful walks across the road around Derwent Water.

Fantastic location just off Derwent water in the Great Wood National Trust car park.
Busy during the day with walkers etc, but after 6pm everyone goes and we had the place to ourselves.
Nice and quiet and felt safe, police came patrolling every night but just drove round the car park and left.
We joined the National Trust and got parking fee refunded (also got 25% discount of the fee for being camping and caravan club members) as this entitles you to park for free in any of the NT car parks in the lakes. The NT warden said officially you are not allowed to overnight but they turn a blind eye to NT members.
We had a great walk around Derwent Water - about 10 miles and another walk up Cat Bells (13 miles) on Easter Sunday.
Easy 1 1/2 mile walk into Keswick or there is a bus stop 100 yards down the road with half hourly service up and down the lake.
