Great campsite, really relieved they had vacancies (sat nav took us around some fairly small tracks!) Great pitch along the river with lots of ducks for company x Great clean facilities and beautifully clean site x walking distance of the village where we had a lovely meal and a few drinks and entertained by the local morris dancers x Highly recommendView all reviews by annr
Just back from a weekend there and thought the site was good. Ideal place and well situated for walking, Hope village not far to walk to and plenty of places/pubs to eat at. Would recomend it.View all reviews by Roger12
A decent campsite, handy for all local amenities and access to the stunning countryside in the area, great walks and dog friendly.View all reviews by richb600
This is a nice campsite a short walk from Hope, convenient for pubs and shops. There are plenty of good walks around the immediate area and the facilities are good, You are in a valley so the views are stunning all around. Castleton is only a short trip awayView all reviews by eddie889
Great site in great location. Showers and toilets always spotlessly clean and the water was hot despite notices saying they had a problem with the boiler. Had a hard standing pitch in what was a very quiet week.View all reviews by bushyf
Bus stop more or less outside the site with buses into Hope and Castleton one way and various villages and Sheffield the opposite way. Train station a 5 minute walk away. Very friendly helpful, staff. Booked to come here again for a weekend in July and then again in August to volunteer at the Special,Olympics though I expect the site to be a lot busier then. Only problem was that the premium pitches had the worst view - the dustbins!
Not good. Bit of a free for all really. It was day after spring bank holiday but that's not really an excuse. No one to ensure you pitch correctly which was problem number one. Ended up with a camper van pitching within eight feet of our motorhome. Went to query with warden as didn't have room to open canopy. She made him move which he wasn't happy with and took issue with us when we returned. Second problem was the amount of kids playing football within a couple of feet of our motorhome. Resulted in inevitable so we packed up and moved on. We work on a site and always ensure everyone is sited according to regulations and convenience. We also imagined ball games would be kept away from pitches. But unfortunately not.View all reviews by foodle
Facilities, dated but adequate.
Will not be returning.
Great site - second time I have stayed here. This time I pitched up without booking as the campsite at Edale that I wanted to stay at wasn't allowing Motorhomes due to amount of rain. Laneside was very full but the staff were very understanding and managed to fit me in after a few minutes discussion. Grass pitch but the staff said that if I got stuck they would pull me off. I didn't get stuck! Got the Train to Edale and walked the 1st Stage of Penine Way - Edale to Crowden.View all reviews by jghsmith
