Great spot. surface is grass but very solid when we were there. Have to try Ostrich meat. 10 euros for 2 filling steaks and best meat I have ever had. A mile walk to very picturesque oyster huts at sundown. Definite return in order

This is a great France Passion site at Marsilly, a small village just north of La Rochelle at the site of an Ostritch farm. Easy to find and is well signposted. The parking is in a field opposite the farm and although the book says space for 5 vans, there where 7 when we stayed and room for even more. No services available except water and you can just see the sea from the field.
The farm has a boutique selling regional products and products from the farm such as Ostritch meat and feathers. There is also a tour available of the farm (5€ adults, 3€ children) and you get an audio guide in English and an headset. The tour is quite interesting and explains about how similar Ostritches are similar to dinosaurs and the stages of development from the incubator to slaughter.
The night was quite apart from some strong wind and the usual village church bell ringing at 7am.

Plenty of strong free fon wifi signals available
