I have emailed Torridge Council to thank them for their welcoming attitude to motorhomes. Fantastic overnight stop, fabulous views and a lovely village. Had a great meal in the Beaver Inn and then thoroughly enjoyed folk night (every Tuesday) in the Champ Inn, both within a few minutes walk.

Top marks to Torridge for their enlightened view on motorhome parking. The system is great and easy to use. The rules are equally simple and well explained on site. What a shame that when we were there most vans chose to ignore them so blatantly it will not be long before the council will have to close this amenity. The 6m rule does not mean getting so close that you cannot even open your habitation door. Parking does not mean putting your step on the pavement!

Some excellent reviews here and I can only add a few small comments. Good value and great location. To pay for the night we asked the friendly parking warden who told use how it works. The right hand machine has a button marked Motorhomes, this allows for the £5 per night fee, covers 6pm to 10:00am. Normal parking is £3 for the day and you will need to pay this if parking outside the hours mentioned. Excellent local pubs.

Stayed here NYE, for our first off-site experience. Lovely view, and good location to explore the local town. Car park large and spacious with toilets (basic but pretty clean) Spaces on the front, with a view, or at the back with some shelter.
Paid via an app which was super easy. Not much noise overnight. Take care as our sat nav bought us down a very narrow lane into the town (our sat nav with settings specific to moho was broken) Check out sylvesters fish and chip shop, lovely

Easy to find and at only £5 per night very good value.
Car park empty but it was January.
The car park attendant was there first thing in the morning and again at 10.00 when the overnight rate changed to an hourly rate. We over hung the bay at the back but deemed to be ok with just one ticket.
If we are in the area again we will use again.

Great place to stay traffic wardens (CEO) in the car park are very helpful I was told so long as my wheels were in the marked bay I only needed 1 ticket even though the Moho overhung the bay behind me we have a 6.4 metre autotrail & the CEO said just pay for parking until 6pm then Pay a fiver for 6pm-10am

Stayed here during the local carnival, roads to and from quite busy but to be expected. Car park easy to find and quite popular with motorhomes. Short stroll to the town which has a good variaty of pubs and shops. Best pitches near the sea wall for views over the estuary. Toilets clean and at £5 per night would use again.

Not much that I can add to other rave reviews. Appledore is a lovely place. Carrying passengers? Hotel right next door to the car park. Dogs? Instal ferry then walk along the Taw or just drop down on to any of the walks into Westward hoe. Park at the back, the bus turns round at the front and the reversing horn is a great alarm clock.

We didn't stay the night because already booked into a site but we spent the day there. Fantastic views an very easy walk along the front. Toilet facilities on car park. Skateboard and park for kids. £3 all day and £5 per night but can only park for two consecutive nights. Warden does patrol. Someone given a ticket whilst we were there.

What a great stopover and hats off to Torridge council for providing this facility. Had a peaceful nite sleep listening to the waves rolling up the pebble beach. When the tide goes out you can walk along the beach albeit more mudflats than sandy beach. Would expect this to be very popular in the Summer months. We visited in Feb and there was 5 vans. Views are great with uninterrupted expansive views across the estuary. Would highly recommend.

Appledore is a small tourist village in north Devon. Plenty of pubs (2 bound the overnight car park) fish n chips 100 m. Plenty of craft shops and even a little ferry across to Instow another lovely place. For anyone interested in Ships Babcock Marine Appledore are currently building their 4th Irish OPV for a fraction of the price being paid by the RN in Glasgow. This place is a favourite of mine when in Devon. Be sure to go to Bideford where another overnight car park is available on the river front car park.
