Overnighted here before catching the train to Calais. Hopped on the bus to Canterbury had a nice meal, few beers, stocked up on provisions nearly £100 added to the local economy. Well done the local council. Everything you need on site, beautiful city. UK so far behind with this type of Aire/Stopover

A lot bigger than I thought with the overflow car park taking the larger MH, it says you must arrive by 20:30 but people where arriving much later. a really good stop prior to departing from either Dover or the Tunnel.

Great stopover for either the Ferry or Eurostar, priced at £3.50 per calendar day but that includes free return bus into Canterbury, there is fresh water waste drop and bins available on-site, I was advised by the attendant not to bother with paying at the machine, just drive to the barrier on Exit and the display says outstanding charge and allows you to pay via contact less payment.

Very handy for A2, easy access. Free bus to and from Canterbury which runs every 8mins or so until early evening. Large parking area with access to fresh water. We will certainly use this stopover again when enroute to Dover.

Stayed overnight ready for ferry, free bus (inc dogs) into Canterbury which was much nicer than we expected even took a punt down the river (£24 for 35 mins)
Distant road noise but not too bad. No view as it is a car park but very convenient location. Large shopping centre as leaving the town for all those items you forgot to pack!

Arrived here at 2000hrs on a Sunday for a 0500 departure to the Eurotunnel.
Nice clean area and well marked, a little bit of road noise, but distant. All the toilets were closed when we got there, but there was quite a lot of stuff inside as it looked as they are doing renovations there.
Easy to leave as you pay at the barrier on exit, card only.
20 minutes to Eurotunnel so ideal. There is a pub just outside the car park, but, we didnt try it.

Slightly sloping dedicated car park area with free bus ride to/from Canterbury. Free services, although a large grate had to be lifted to empty the WC. Great walk with dogs from entrance across bridle ways and fields. Apparently 4500 houses will be built on the fields in future, which is a shame. Machine didn’t accept our payment upon exit at the barrier, so we had to go to the main building for payment. Helpful staff. Great safe location for getting on or off the ferries. Would use again

this site was absolutely amazing well done Canterbury council
pulled in large area for motorhomes
paid the £3.50 jumped straight onto the bus into the town buses run every 8 mins
coming back was the same great service
back to the van and off to our next destination
why can't other councils follow the lead
most other large towns and cities have park and ride so no reasons at all for not getting it sorted.

Well done Canterbury for such a splendid aire. wish other cities and town adapted your philosophy. Brilliant stopover, safe secure and most of all cheap and to cap it all a pub selling food literally down the road. it was quiet and secure which I like. Plus it is only 30mins from Dover ferry port. Highly recommended.

It was sometime since our last visit so we were pleasantly surprised to find a dedicated drinking water tap and a large dustbin have been installed. Also the new overflow area signed for motorhome use is better for larger vehicles, over 7m with a bike rack is tight in the original parking, the new area is not as sloping. OK so the price has increased to £3.50 per 24hrs, midnight to midnight so £7.00 if you stay overnight, but this is still great value. Thank you Canterbury city council!! It is such a shame that other cities with P&R dont take note and follow suit.

Excellent Aire convenient for Canterbury with free buses into Canterbury included in your Parking ticket. Last park and ride out of town is around 7.30pm but stagecoach buses run to around 11pm. Facilities are very clean but only open during park and ride hours. The motorhome exclusive area takes about 24 M/Hs up to 7m long but there were a number of larger M/Hs parked up in the overflow area which is to the right after the barrier. Ate at the pub on the roundabout not impressed with the food

As the previous reviews this a great aire
5 minute bus ride into town for food and drinks

The overflow to the right seems to be used all of the time and is much nicer than the main area by the facilities. (The message from the barrier machine gets very annoying so we moved to the overflow)

Wish more towns would make motorhomes as welcome.

Gem of a place - great access to town - only problem is sometimes there’s not enough space in the bins provided - note on line registration with canterbury council now availabe so hopefully will be much easier to pay automatically - hughly reccomnded stopover either when leaving from dover or arriving home after a trip to europe.

Thank you Canterbury City for providing this facility. Room for 24 in the official area, with an overspill for many more, although without facilities there. Very good value, as the cost includes travel by bus in to the city centre and back, for however many people are travelling. Does close for entry sharp at 8.30pm, I saw an arrival at 8.25pm which was successful and another at 8.35pm, who wasn’t able to access. Will certainly come here again.

Arrived here on the 24th May at 20:30 only to find the barriers to the entrance locked down. However I asked at the pub at the entrance to the P&R if it was ok to stay over on his carpark if we had some drinks. Not only did he let us, he also remarked that buying drinks was not necessary! Needless to say we did have a couple.

What a great spot. Buses are every six minutes and Canterbury is lovely. Sadly, we only had one day and it rained but still plenty to do. How nice to be welcomed as a motorhome overnighting. Lovely to have some facilities too. Great food in local pub, accessible from the corner of the park and ride car park. If only more communities welcomed us. There were about 50 motorhomes each night and I'm sure they were all spending money in the local community. Oh, and not a trace of litter anywhere.

Parking Charges now £3 per day. But if you arrive after 4PM it is only £1 up until Midnight on that same day.

If you arrive before 4PM you will be charged £3 up till Midnight and then Another £3 for the next day.
This is irrespective of what time during that next day, when you depart. Bear in mind, that you will only find out what the charge is, when you go to the cash machine to pay for your departure.

Overall, this is still a fantastic stopover and still value for money. In my opinion.

Great little stop off point when travelling to or from France. Excellent value... £3 per 24 hour period and only £1 if arriving after 4pm. So we paid a total of £4 for our overnight stop. The service point offers drinking water, grey waste and black waste disposal. Access to very clean and tidy toilets from 7am to 7pm. And great bus service in to Canterbury.

Excellent Aire on outskirts of Canterbury. Base don the park and ride on New Road so very regular buses. It costs £3 per day (until midnight) for a vehicle and up to six passengers, and this includes free use of the Park & Ride buses. If you arrive to park after 4pm, you will only need to pay £1 for the rest of that day. If you stay an extra day, the system will add a further £3 to your ticket.

Basic water available plus disposals, but same tap for fresh water as toilet so you may wish to clean tap before use! There is also an excellent pub right outside the park and ride with free wifi.

The nearest thing we have to a French style aire. Purpose made for just motorhomes adjacent to the park and ride on New Dover Road. Note this is the only park and ride in Canterbury with motorhome overnight stays. At £3 per 24 hours it represents excellent value for money, especially as this includes use of the park and ride bus into the city centre. Max 48 hours stays. Would pay to arrive early in the day in August. We arrived at 7.00pm mid August to find it full. Mainly foreign registered vehicles so the word is spreading about this facility. We understand the nearby pub will allow you to stay if you have a meal but I can't vouch for this. We did stay overnight a mile back towards Dover in a huge layby on the New Dover Road. The following morning we found three spaces free at 8.30am. Ideally situated for those using the Port of Dover which is 15-20 minutes away. As we were so near to the port we arrived early and were put on an earlier boat but obviously, this is just the luck of the draw. It begs the question that if Canterbury can make a facility like this, why can't other public authorities. I wish this could be the model for many more motorhome 'aires' in the UK.

Ideal stopover for visiting Canterbury. £3 per 24 hours, maximum stay 48 hours. We only live 14 mile away but use it if we are having an evening in the city. As stated includes frequent buses into the city, when they stop running in early evening you can use the service buses that pass, 15 & 16. Nice pub at the entrance.

Absolutely loved this stop ideal for the ferry at Dover, I would like to reiterate the previous comments in regards to Canterbury Council and their foresight in seeing the potential of a stop such as this which keeps large vehicles out of the city but allows the revenue to still come in. We stayed a couple of nights and made use of the bus ticket into the centre and also bought a day saver and visited the lovely Whitstable.£3 per 24 hrs and free bus ticket, water, waste, toilets excellent well done Canterbury for leading the way! Will have to extend soon :-)
