Arrived 5pm in full sunshine. Parked next to a field of red & yellow tulips about 15 meters away. Parked on hard standing along side a track road. Canal on opposite side. Plenty of Spaces to park. It is one mile from the Gardens. We pre bought our garden ticket at an Acsi Site for 13.70 euros discounteD. Visited Haarlem during the day Beautiful.10/10View all reviews by vivagibbo
We were able to park at Heukenhof Canal easily and had fields on both sides of us with beautifully coloured and heavenly scented headings, breathtakingly...View all reviews by tinka
Cycled to the gardens on one of the days which was amazing, too beautiful for words. We cycled past the train station that now has a sign stating no motorhomes.
Every morning between 8 to 8.30 the bread man comes past ringing his bell, he sells croissants, rolls and baguettes. Both mornings we were there he drove up and down three times.
a very nice spot indeed. I met the webmaster on that spot and we had a nice conversation.View all reviews by rudyc
One thing to add; the next day a police officer came to us asking to remove the camper and to park on the other side of the road. In fact, at the canal side of the road, you are not allowed to stay because this is still part of the national partk. At the other side, no problems.
Wild camping location alongside the canal and amongst the tulip fields.View all reviews by admin
There are parking spaces either side of the road, some in the recessed areas on one side of the road and a few places directly alongside the canal on the other. The spot is ideal for visiting the Keukenhof Gardens which are approx 10mins walk away. The gardens are only open in April and May and feature spectacular flower displays and are a very popular attraction. Expensive to visit at 16€ each but well worth it, as you will not see a better garden display anywhere.
There is some passing traffic along the road and a train line approx 300m away but you can hardly hear it and it doesn't run at night. There are no facilities apart from a bit of free wifi we picked up using the iBoost.
