I would echo other reviews. A lovely site close to a pretty little sandy cove. Great walk along cliff top to town. We arrived the day before half of the site, including the lovely big swimming pool, was closing. Ate at the site restaurant which was delicious, very good value. A small supermarket closeby and some of the restaurants and bars were closing at end of September.

An excellent site with spacious hard earth/sand pitches. All facilities immaculate. Spacous showers with lots of hot water. A short stroll down to a beautiful sand beach in a very picturesque cove. Several bars and restaurants. A nice place to sit in the evening sun with a Mojito! There is a supermarket on site and a few yards away an excellent larger supermarket and also a large Wine and Spirits supermarket. No public transport near by although there is a tourist road train outside that runs in the season round the L’Escala area. We paid ACSI rate with a free night if you stay 7 days. Worked out at €18.40 pn will definately return when in the area.

We only intended to stay a few nights, but ended up staying 2 weeks, loved it so much have returned. ACSI accepted and reduced rates the longer you stay.I suspect in high season it can get very loud but the site is split in 2 with Spanish etc on 1 side and all us "other" Europeans on the other side. There is a pool, bar, restaurant and the pitches are a good size. The site is kept scrupulously clean with a very clean toilet block. The beach is a couple of minutes away with some small bars etc

I can only echo what everyone else has said. This is a gem of s site which is well maintained with very friendly staff set in a small and very pretty cove. If you love walking/cycling there are some great trails straight from the site which lead to magnificent views. If like us you love to kayak the water is crystal clear and if you pick a calm day kayak around the right hand headland and you will see some amazing sights. Will definitely return.

Very large ACSI site split in two. One half flat near sandy beach, other terraced near rocky cove and large swimming pool. All the facilities you will ever need on a campsite. Good cliff walk to town. Large pitches in the shade of pine trees. Some good looking bars and restaurants near sandy beach, others look abandoned and run down.

Liked it so much stayed a few additional nights. Facilities and site are kept scrupulously clean. A couple of Supermarkets nearby and a road train will take you into l,Escala. The beach is a couple of minutes easy stroll away. There is some entertainment on site and strict noise limits after midnight. The pitches are large and some are very large. The site extends to both sides of the road to the beach so if you have mobility problems ask for a pitch on the lower side for the other is terraced on a hill. All in all an excellent site but as the previous reviewer said you need to pay cash for a pitch which could be inconvenient if you arrive low on the readies.

A site on two sides of the road, with access to the beach from one side and access to a rocky cove on the other side, but still a short walk which ever side you are on. Found the English speaking staff very helpful, was able to choose own pitch, we had a good size pitch with some shade. It is a short walk to a couple of local small supermarkets. I did think the area new the beach a little run down in places but I think work may be going. There are several restaurants within walking distance of the site. There is a super view from the out door swimming pool. Also there are some good cliff top walks.

I often worry about the title 'Bungalow Park' or 'Resort', although this site bears no resemblance to my perceptions of these labels. Illa Mateua is in a stunning corner of north-east Spain, just south of the French border on the rugged coastline of north Costa Brava. It is a very large site, with two sections. One is open during the week and the second opens up for the weekends during the season. The pitches are large and shaded by pine trees with sandy/grassy standings. The facilities are excellent and the showers are roomy, hot and clean. The water pressure here though is very low, so you may struggle as we did to fill up your tank, so I would suggest that you fill up before arriving or ask at Reception for directions to the fast flowing tap in the 'closed section' of the park. You are 200 yards from a stunning sandy cove with a range of restaurants to tempt your palate, although there is a restaurant on site too. The supermarket is well stocked and you get a token for a free drink and tapas on arrival, together with a very friendly greeting. You must pay by cash, so be prepared. This is one of those sites where you just want to keep staying just a bit longer.
