This WAS a great place to park up but it is now closed with concrete blocks barring the entrance as it is about to be built on. It apparently closed in October 2019. Parking at the marina is only a couple of hundred yards away though and that is also a great place to park up when visiting Porto. I have given this the highest rating in the hope that people will read it.

Brilliant location for visiting Porto. It's free to park, beware of which entrance you come in, one at the end is very rough ground and we saw several units reversing out onto the road to come in a smoother entrance. Saying that the car park itself is level and has beautiful views over into Porto. We are glad we had the bikes as it would have been quite a walk to areas of interest. There are no services, only bins. We will be back.

Edited to add: returned July 2019 and the van next door to us was broken into while we were in our van in broad daylight. We heard and saw nothing. We would stop again but this does make us wary. Porto remains beautiful.

Checked this place out and although there were around 20 motorhomes parked it looks a very dodgy place and reading comments about low life’s breaking in we decided it just wasn’t worth the risk !

As all others have said. However we were unfortunate in that whilst visiting this great city our MoHo was broken into. There were only 6 units in this large unmade 'car park' think waste ground, we were the only GB plate. Probably means nothing. Also means nothing that an older Italian camper was parked right beside us as we returned and as we drew closer drove off. Could this have been screening whilst someone popped the window. As we all know these windows open easily. There was some begging in the area and one particular character that came to our attention. The locals tell us the other camper site on the other side of the river is 'doubtful'. Please use caution.

Great location with plenty of space. About 30 minute walk to the restaurants on the other side of the bridge but quite a few nice looking bars before you get to the bridge with a cable car going up the hill. People jogging along the path from the car park to the centre after dark, felt very safe. It was also very quiet at night, would want to stay here again

Currently parked here overlooking the river. Not much to add to previous reviews; great location for exploring Porto. A word of warning if you decide to walk to the Supermarket that appears to be just behind the car park. Do not take the shortest route offered by Google maps. You will end up on a dual carriageway without any footpaths. As you face the river go left and take the first road on the left. Walk to the top of the hill and then ask Google for a route. This will get you there safely

Do you want running water, toilet dump and EHU. Then don’t stay here. On the other hand, if you want a riverside view of one of Europe’s most spectacular cities, free of charge, then this is for you. Slightly scruffy but very large car park. Almost flat. Amazing view of the river. 30+ motorhomes here tonight but doesn’t feel crowded. Very safe. The site is up for sale and will probably be turned into posh apartments so grab it while you can. A gem

January 2018. Ignore ANY of the negatives of this site - The city is magnificent, as are the port houses, the view (straight across the river 10 metres from the parking area) to the city itself is utterly magnificent. Local police occasionally pop by (to check everything's safe, not to move you on), a big supermarket less than 5 minutes drive (walkable, but it's very steep!). 30mins walk along and across the river into the heart of the old city. LOADS of potholes in parking, but so what!!!!

Very busy overnight motorhome stop and car park overlooking the river across to Porto. No services apart from bins. Nice walk along the path/boardwalk to the main area of Vila Nova. Take cable car up to the top of town which includes a free port tasting.

A slightly sloping, scruffy car park with no services (apart from bins) but with an excellent view across the river. It is adjacent to a road which was a bit noisy on a night. It was also the meeting place for joggers on a morning as well as some dubious activities which seemed to take place on a night. It is about 30 minutes walk to get into the actual city with a choice of bridge crossings. We bought a chairlift ticket to access the top bridge on the way and used the bottom bridge on the way back. The chairlift allowed dogs on and had great views. We also received a free port tasting coupon to visit one of the Caves. If you’re in the market for buying port, the Cave tours are a great experience. Porto is a lovely city but, like a lot of cities, can be noisy and polluted. Our favourite areas were around the riverside bars and restaurants but they were expensive on the Porto side. The Gaia side has more reasonable prices. The opposite direction from the Aire takes you to a beach after about 2 miles walking or cycling which was great for the dogs. We would definitely return to this aire.

This is a carpark overlooking the Douro and OK it is a bit rough with no services but it’s a fabulous location for visiting Vila Nova De Gaia and the port houses as well as Porto.

Great location, within walking distance of the main tourist area. Space for many motorhomes, some with a view of the river. Adjacent to the riverside road but it did not disturb our sleep.

There is nothing here to show it as an official stop for motorhomes but there are several here and the view across the river to Porto is brilliant. No services but plenty of space, quiet and fairly level. We walked round to the bridge and into the city along the walkway. Great place to stay if you want to visit Porto.
