A good spot for overnight camping although a popular tourist destination by day. The sign does say private parking for the restuarant but nobody was moved on. A number of people seemed to turn up and disappear through the night for socialising and so it was noisey into the early hours on the night we stayed.View all reviews by leelabird
There are no facilties.
On route to the site there is a preferable layby that could host a couple of smaller vans or a large motorhome. Its on the left just 100m from the lighthouse as you approach.
We arrived at 5pm, jammed packed with tourists and their coaches, parked in the coach area until space became available at the front of restaurant, then the sunset worshipers invaded! Quiet at nine, then at midnight the next load of cars and motorbikes arrived, talking loudly and performing donuts around the car park. Finally left at 3am, when the wind reached hurrican force, so all in all a dreadful stop for us! As its the most westerly point in Europe that explains all the tourists so I imagine its always going to be busyView all reviews by travelswithmargot
Tricky drive up with lots of coaches coming down. Car park ok but busy, need good control. Personally just a sea view did not justify.View all reviews by southbourne
This site is not at Sintra, but Cabo de Roca.
We have previously parked here for the night and returned to see if anything had changed. This was on a Sunday and it was crowded with cars and coaches. Not a good move but we found a space and parked. We walked into the carpark by the shop and spoke to GNR officers and asked if it was OK to stay overnight. They said yes but do not put anything outside otherwise you are camping and not just parking. So with re-assurance we stopped and joined the other visitors. The next day we spoke with the lighthouse chief who had shown us round the lighthouse and asked if we could fill with water. He kindly agreed. Many of the spaces are sloping and it is best not to use the shop carpark. A lovely spot with great views.View all reviews by silvertourer
