Often stay here during the winter months. Its a great spot to base yourself for exploring the area as it has everything you need. Municipal swimming pool in San Antonio, just down the road,is well worth a visit, €1.85 for an hour and includes sauna and jacuzzi - bargain.

We stopped for one night on the overflow car park as the aire was full. The water station worked but could so with some attention. Good free stop over. Road was buisy and the locals like to park closely between the vans. But overall a good stop over.

Great spot on the border of Spain/Portugal, if main aire is full there's a over spill opposite, plenty of cafe and bars, and a supermarket

Just stayed one night. Busy aire as full by nightfall. For a small town there is surprisingly a lot of road noise. WC is on floor next to grey water drain, do not lift lids with stones on where you expect it to be as full of cockroaches. Did not fill up with water as had seen toilet cassettes filled and rinsed from water fill tap. Nice town, quiet apart from sliding van doors, Rod Stewart blasting out on a Sunday morning and those that left at 4am with NO consideration to others.

Plenty of room in both parking areas when we stayed one afternoon and evening in May. Water free today. Do not dump your black waste at service point where you get your fresh water. Dump it 2 to 3 metres away nearer the wall. Some dog noise at night and obviously road noise. The Nights Templar castle is FREE, closes for 1 hour for lunch from 1pm. Other castle is closed, under reconstruction since 2006. Supermarket very close and open on Sundays. Very light at night.

Although we have stayed at this aire previously, on this occasion we used it twice for emptying only as it is handy, being just off the main road to Santo Antonio, the Algarve or Spain. The town is great but this aire can get extremely busy and vans are parked very close together, including on the overflow parking adjacent but there is alternative parking on the other side of town.

Right in the town and a great supermarket close by.it had just rained so the official site was very muddy.lots of obvious people living permanently on this site and inconsiderate parking of their cars and trailers mainly
French And Dutch who just abuse this generous towns hospitality.

Easy to find. Decent supermarket the other side of large carpark. La Tasca Medieval restaurant just across the road does a good meal with friendly service. Castle worth a visit remember passport for dob for concessionary rate. Good bird watching further down road on salt marshes.

Very popular free aire. Can be tightly packed, but large carpark adjacent appears to be an unofficial overflow for parking. NB Cassette emptying area blocked at time of writing (April 2018).

The adjacent “A Tasca Medieval” restaurant comes highly recommended for authentic, tasty food, ambience & helpful service, at reasonable prices, eg 1/2 litre house wine at €3, & an espresso for 50 cents.

Stayed quite a few times at Castro Marim, lovely village and lots of nice walks, a great supermarket, shops, bars and restaurants. The Aire is often full but overflowing into the carpark round the market place is normally permitted.

A free aire with space for around 20 but overflow car park used by many at time of our visit. Dump available and water with jeton €2 euros. Town OK with, castle fort and church, a supermarket and a few bars/ restaurants, bakers etc. easy access from A22.

A decent free aire, with charge for services but now no electric. Small town village with castle, fort and church OK for a night halt, virtually on Spanish border. A few bars and cafes in town and close to large supermarket. Takes about 20 units but adjacent car park used as overflow despite signs.

Free aire near in Castro Marim Decent enough quiet spot. The parking is clearly signed and if there isn't room there is another car park nearby. The town is nice to walk around and there are 2 castles. Medieval nights are busy. Water and all waste disposal for a €2 charge (didn't use) We have a Facebook page to record our travels - if you search for Betty Bolero & "like" the page, then scroll down to find photos & write ups for this area if you fancy.

Nice overnight stop. Supermarket 200m, castles 500m. Only filled late at night, overflow into adjacent car park seems possible but there are "Motorhomes prohibited" signs. Main parking area just takes 9m, however there are 2 positions that would take 10m.

This spot was really busy in Feb and we could not get on the official aire. However around the corner is a big car park which was also really busy. We stayed on the car park with no problem for a night. Didn't use the facilities as the que in the morning was massive. Nice little supermarket nearby and castle.

The last or first stop on the Algarve. The parking is clearly signed and if there isn't room there is a large car park a few metres on where stopping does not seem to be a problem. The town is nice to walk around and there are 2 castles, one of which you can get in to. Medieval nights are the busiest time to visit but worth it.

Nice stop if travelling to or from Spain to Portugal, right on the border. The main Aire was full when we stopped in January 2015, but we were able to park for free in the big car park next door with no problem. Nice town with castle and several bars/restaurants, a bank and shops. Would recommend this and will definitely stop here again.
