Good free stop over 30 minutes from the ferry. Most vehicles park on the level area adjacent to the lake. Sufficient room for large units and those with trailers. Busy at weekends when the Wildlife Park is well used. Small village 5 minutes walk away with a few restaurants and a bread van around lunchtime.

Great free stopover. Arrived from Santander in the dark. And sat nav took us over the top on a single lane track for about 2 miles. Exciting! Woke up next morning to a beautiful frosty morning over looking the lake. Couple of bars open in the village. Well worth a stay.

Nice free site, facilities are a bit basic but surroundings are lovely, couple of good bars in village and a tremendous view over the elephant enclosure.

Great stopover. stayed for two nights which were really busy. Basic facilities available. Park is a great visit but think you really need to go in for two days. Some nice little bars in the town.

Located in a car park next to a lake and at the back of the wildlife park. The car park is used by locals and does get very busy with motorhomes but there is plenty of space. The services are a little dated and everyone is using the tap to wash out their toilets as it's the only tap. However there is a free running spa 50 metres up the road and is lovely drinking water. Only a short walk from the car park you can walk past the elephant area and they come up quite close to the fence.

Many motorhomes already there when we arrived on a Saturday night. We expected it to be a bit noisy with lots of Spanish families but, in fact, it was very peaceful. Will stay again

Our second visit we were here April 2016, the view of the animals is not as good as it is not possible to get so close now the new cable car is in operation. The services are still here they are a bit dated but still usable however it would be difficult to use the drive over grey drain as it is raised up so much. There is one shop in the village with fresh bread available each day. The parking can become very busy weekends and bank holidays as it is used lots by Spanish vans visiting the park.

Nice spot, close to the village which has bar, restaurants. It’s close enough to Santander to make it a good stopover either when arriving or leaving. Drive time is 20-30 minutes. Everyone parks near the lake which is fairly level and has pleasant views.

Ideal stop over on way too or from the ferry ports of Santander or Bilbao. Can get very busy on a weekend, particularly bank holiday ones. There is a good fresh water supply just beyond the service point on the left on the way out as there is
only one water tap at a he service point itself. Excellent views of the elephant enclosure. Pleasant walk from the end of the aire.

Set in beautiful, lakeside surroundings this is a great stopover when using the ferry.
The safari park was closed when we visited July 13th 2017.
The access is via a fairly narrow road in the centre of the village.
Can get pretty crowded with vehicles as the evening progresses.

This is pretty site with free services. The official MH park is sloping and most people appear to opt for the general car park which is more level and overlooking a lake. The site backs onto a safari park and a short walk allows you to see elephants roaming and bathing for free. There were cowbells ringing all night from cattle in a nearby field when we were there. I imagine the service point being a little awkward for longer vans as it had a ramp. We didn't use the fresh water supply as it was directly above the chemical disposal point and didn’t appeal to us. The Safara park itself looked huge and interesting and worth a visit either on foot, bike or by chairlift. Being with dogs and only staying for one night, we were unable to do this. The area as a whole is not much good for dogs due to the animals and ducks but definitely worth a visit otherwise.

Fantastic spot to stop over, only 15mins to/from the ferry terminal at Santander.
Services are minimal but functional , and free. Parking by the lake is a must as the listed site is on a slope, we had no complaints in June.
A short walk to the fence and we could see elephants and other wild animals. There is a new cable car only a few yards from the aire which goes over the park. There are 4 restaurants within 2mins walk.
Would suit any size van, we will go here again.

A fantastic spot for a night or two when coming to or from Santander ferry. Although we got a bit lost, we followed brown signs and then Cabarceno and the car park is through the village. Only 30 mins or so away. There's plenty of space, especially in the flat, lower car park. It's very quiet and picturesque. We've not assessed the facilities yet as it hasn't stopped raining - although I couldn't think of a better place to sit out the storm. Oh, did I mention it's all free. Hope to go spend some money in the village by way of a thank you.

Perfect aire with lots of parking and great views over the wildlife parks elephant enclosure. Services all there for grey & black water and there is even a tap providing fresh spring water! Just be aware if you use a sat nav ours took us on a new road (of course we may have mis-read it) which it then didn't recognise so we did a detour. There are brown tourist signs to it though so best to follow these then the sat nav will pick the route up again. Best of all there is no charge for this aire. Great location before or after the Santander ferry.

Basic stop with water / wc empty, but right next to animal park where you can see the elephants and buffalo. Short walk to lovely village with plenty of bars / restaurants. Try the local cider served in 75ml glass bottle to share, are worth it. Beautiful country setting, but not far from the main routes from Santander / Bilbao

A stunning Aire a short drive from Santander ferry terminal, Bilbao is also within easy reach.
In winter you can use the large car park by the lake instead of the Aire which is difficult to get level on.
Now allowed to use the large car park in Peak periods.
The village offers a great selection of small bars and Restaurants great walks, and the zoo is well worth a visit, support the locals to keep this Aire open. Water and Grey/Black dump easily accessible NO EHU.
