We called in advance per the instruction here. The staff took a table booking, but had no idea what I was talking abou re overnighting. On the morning we were due in the area we got a call to say that unfortunately they would not host us overnight. I emailed their feedback address suggesting that they remove themselves from this directory and they replied -
"Apologies but we cannot take any responsibility for any vehicles left in our car park overnight and we do not accommodate overnight stay

A great place to stop for the night, the parking lot is huge so park near the back where it is most quiet as it is on a busy road. Food was good as were the drinks. We ALWAYS ask before we assume we can park and have never been turned down. Will stop here again next time we need to be near Southend-on-Sea. Visited Fort Tilbury the next day. What an undiscovered treasure.

We stopped over here before having a new exhaust fitted nearby at Vortex. The car park is large and mainly level, and tarmac. It is lined for cars only but when I asked if I could stay the night, they had no problem with me taking two spaces. There is good lighting and it feels secure for an overnight stay. They sell a good range of beer and the food was not only excellent, but also very reasonably priced. The pub does quite a few events like weddings etc, so it is advisable to ring first.
