Fabulous spot for a stop over. Had the place to ourselves and so peaceful and beautiful. Toilets open and a lovely cafe in the castle. Didn't want to leave. £10 for overnight

Stopped overnight in our campervan, really quiet and a lovely spot. Lots of trails to walk in the woods.
Toilet facilites at the entrance to the carpark.
Only downside was the midgies because we didn’t have repellant.
Need to buy 2 x £5 parking tickets to stay overnight and leave by 9am
Would stay here again

This and Elf View are the only official places to overnight at Kielder Water. Toilets are available 24 hours at the bottom of the hill as you enter the car park but other than that no other services. During the day on weekends it may be difficult to manurer the car park due to day visitors but by 3-4pm it goes quiet. Also be warned that once the day visitors arrive you may get trapped if in a large MH. Weather helped make this a pleasurable stay with great walks and cycling.

Stayed for one night after visiting the observatory. Ideal for such a visit where arriving late. £10.00 makes it cheaper then the pub just down the road. Very quiet location and easy to access and park. Payment is via card or cash using the machine as you enter the carpark.

Stayed one night early April and had place to ourselves. Bit expensive - £10 for 9pm to 9am. Clean toilets and pub 5 mins walk away.

It's true you can park here on three fairly level tarmac standings. It's slightly confusing having to put money in after 9pm - and the tickets still show the date of 9pm to midnight - but I'm sure the evidence of paying £10 would suffice to satisfy the parking enforcement people. This site (in October) is so quiet it's unbelievable. On a clear night, acclimatise your eyes to darkness, go outside and be treated to the most amazing starscapes - with absolutely no light pollution.
