Just had two night stopover here. Owners and staff went out of their way to accommodate us (8m). We parked roadside for an hour till the carpark cleared, but it was right outside the pub, so no issues. Food excellent. One mile from Martin Mere wildfowl trust and easy 5 mile drive to Southport. Very dog friendly. If coming in from A59 Ormskirk, would suggest coming via industrial estate route if you are a longer motorhome, to avoid speed bumps and traffic calming. Thanks to the owners for a friendly, scenic, quiet stay.View all reviews by JudithR
What a marvellous overnight stop. Very friendly staff and locals. We arrived earlier than planned after emailing them but that was no problem. Nice relaxing sitting by the canal with a few reasonably priced beers then a grand meal at average prices. Not pricey at all. Will be back again when passingView all reviews by sailorgraham
Yes we would come back here again. We have a dog and it might seem strange to say that we choose our stops with him in mind. Good walk along the canal to Burscough and further afield if you wanted. Food was first class . Would be a busy place in peak season.View all reviews by cairngorm
I had planned to stay for one night, but stayed for two. Staff and locals very friendly, good selection of beers. Good canal side location.View all reviews by wirral100
Pub has just changed hands and contrary to reviews on trip advisor was very good if a tad pricey. Superb location next to canal and very quiet. As it’s fairly near home would go again.View all reviews by chelleandsteve
Stayed one night on our way south. Called in advance: “no problem!”. Nice flat car park next to the canal. Bar staff were welcoming. We parked up and went for a walk along the canal, then into the pub for beer and food. Both were very good. Quiet night by the canal, and another walk along the canal to the Tesco shop at Burscough Bridge before we left about midday (I checked this was ok..... “no problem”).View all reviews by thidwick

Stunning location, the staff at the pub were very friendly as were the locals. Most hospitable. Food looked very good and the beer went down extremely well.
Stayed here a couple of months ago. Arrived late but pub stayed open until around midnight and it was no problem when we asked if we could stay. Enjoyed a couple of late night drinks in nice surroundings. Took the dogs for a nice walk up and down the canal the following morning after a quiet night. Didn't see any shops nearby but the pub did serve food during the day and eveningView all reviews by deany
