Beautiful, peaceful spot right next to the river. They prefer you to park in far, right hand corner so as not to upset the neighbours. Lovely, friendly country pub with lots of walks in surrounding area. Enjoyed a nice meal in the pub and a good selection of ales.

Stayed here as it was the closest point to the Monsal Cycle Trail. Ideal location for it and also has access direct onto old trackbed up a steep path. Car park is large, level and adjacent to river so plenty to see. Pub was spotlessly clean including toilets. 4 real ales on all of which were well kept. Food was excellent, reasonably priced and staff were friendly. Atmosphere good with mix of locals & visitors. Free wifi very handy as no mobile signal.

Flat tarmac car park, next to river, on Monsall Trail. No facilities other than pub (which has free wifi). Excellent vfm food & drinks (variety of local beers). Dog friendly. Lovely, friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Arrived here late afternoon on what was to be the coldest night of the year at -8c! Having read previous reviews, went in to ask if overnight stay was available. Please do call in advance if pos. They had no booking so was able to stay in my campervan, nice flat parking, next to the bubbling river, ducks, bench to sit on and lovely trees.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was all freshly cooked and was sublime. Excellent steak and stilton pie with lots of fresh veg.
I ate in the walkers area where shoe covers are provided for muddy boots, dogs are welcome. The piped music was a bit loud but the lounge had an open fire, locals friendly.
Will be back

I agree with previous reviews. We stayed on a Monday. Very quiet. Food and beer superb. Very welcoming. Super view over river watching Dippers! Lovely hour or so walk along river and back along Monday trail (just get the road bit out the way) Definitely need to ring beforehand. Super

Lovely stopover, great location right next to the river. Stayed on Friday night, having called the night before as advised, they asked us to park up by the river in one of the corners, which is where I'd chose to park anyway! The pub food was lovely & reasonably priced & the staff were very welcoming. We went for a lovely walk the next day before moving on.WiFi in the pub, but it doesn't reach the car park and no phone signal at all.Depending on which way you approach hairpin bend to turn in.

Stayed for one night having called and booked the day before. Apparently car park is limited to two motorhomes max. Great stop adjacent to river. Watched herons etc . Excellent real ale and good pub food. WiFi available in pub (just as well, could get no signals of any type on the car park!). No charge for parking. No facilities available other than in pub.

Excellent stopover with good food, beer and friendly staff. Parked on car park opposite pub next to the river. In a great area close to the Monsal trail with good walks. We phoned about half hour before we arrived on a Saturday night and was no problem. Will use again.

Superb stopover
Amazing views and right on the river
We did an amazing walk up the road on the river passed the 2 mills ( one which dickens based Oliver Twist on) there to monsul head and then back via the monsul trail approx 6 m
But wow amazing !!!!
The car park is nice there was us and an other moho parked up very quite location
The pub was lovely and very busy with walkers but the good was excellent we ate on the night and had a Sunday lunch the next day - prob the best Sunday lunch I've had tbh !!!
The owner who recently took over had an issue with us staying another night but that is I think because his neighbours were giving him grief about letting moho stay on the car park
He was fair though and was happy to let us stay and the fact that we had spent £150 in the bar helped !!
Shame really about that as we had phoned ahead and got permission that was the only downside
But I must say would deffo use again and would deffo put it on your to do list

Superb location very quiet and off the beaten track. However still easy to find off the A6. Lovely meals and nice range of cask ales to accompany. Friendly staff happy to chat. Good walks along the Monsal trail just across the river

Staye there 25/3/17 nice cozy place and warm. Food was good albeit slighlty shy on quatity. Turning into the Anglers arms is quite tricky, you need to go past it ,turn around then enter.
Good Ales

We stayed here 22/1/17. We called in advance as advised, the member of staff was pleasant and friendly. The car park space we used was perfectly level and we opened our door right onto the river. The food was well cooked and plentiful and the beer was good. An idyllic place run by friendly folk will go again. There are no facilities other than in the pub but we are self contained.

Stayed here in June 2017. As other reviews say, this is a great place very welcoming with great food & beer.
Was the only van there on a Saturday night, so had pick of where to park. Was nice to park up next to the river & relax with a pint.
Free to park as was eating at the pub.
No EHU & overnight toilets.

Lovely spot for an overnight park up right next to a babbling brook and the geese to keep you company. This place is at the bottom of quite a deep ravine and thus doesn't see the sun at all for three months in winter time. Good food, good company, I would highly recommend this place for the leisure traveller...

Good wilding location if you are self contained, as there are no facilities, but then it is free. Car park is right next to the river and provides a very nice location to park up. The pub serves good food and good beer and the hosts are nice too.

A truly wonderful spot. Free if you eat and drink in the wonderful pub. Always best to phone ahead as there are restrictions on the numbers allowed. Food is always good, as are the beer selections. Lovely spot for walking and cycling. Toilets in the morning half a mile away in the old station yard and visitors centre. I have stayed several times and always had a kind welcome. Big Vans are not permitted usually
