Rugged site, one of the best we’ve ever visited. All facilities were good, superb showers. 20 miles from the nearest A road but don’t be put off - road access is very good. Location is superb if you like an off the grid, big wilderness experience. No TV, radio, 4g comms at all. A bit of limited wifi near the reception block. Bring all that you need.
Grreat cycling and walking. Off lead dog walks from 50m from our pitch. Walks to Deadwater Fell and The Observatory were only mildly difficult and the views make it worth it. Don’t miss the Forest Head sculpture 3.5 miles down the north shore.
On a clear night, stay up until dark - the sky is amazing, you can literally see light years

Just had a great couple nights here. Steve was a very amiable host and was always around chatting and helping people. Toilet facillities very clean with fantastic hot showers. Strong wifi outside reception block but ZERO mobile reception. Great location for walking and mountain biking direct from site. A few midges around but they didnt really bother us. We will be back.

Excellent site...you do need to book well in advance. Very peaceful, amazing night sky when clear. Pitches for tourers are hard standing, spacious and level. Facilities are excellent and there is a newish Grey water disposal drain. Everything to see is within easy reach. Thanks Steve and the guys, keep up the good work!

This campsite is a cracker! Due to work commitments could not arrive until late, no problem at all was sent a very clear email on where to pitch. The Manager is so lovely & friendly & gives so much advice on the area. I went on two hikes from the site, there is so much to explore.
Facilities are good & clean with a little shop on site.

Stayed 4 nights here and site is fantastic. Great location - right on the trails for mountain biking and easy access to lakeside way trails which are suitable for children. The kids loved playing in the forrest surrounding the site. Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful - the manager really goes above and beyond to help people and the site is very well run. The Anglers Arms very close and useful to get WiFi! Lots of veggie/vegan/GF options on the menu and dog friendly. Take plenty of food and booze as no shops nearby at all!

Fantastic site. All motorhome parking is hard standing. Location is just in the edge of the village with easy access to the cycle routes. Shower block is good but all facility's are quite a walk from the motorhome parking. As with most of kielder there is no mobile phone signal so you will be off grid during your stay

We stayed for 3 nights in Aug 2018. Had to pre-pay when we booked, it is now £25pn all week. Arrived on a Sunday and followed instructions to find a hard standing gravel pitch.
Nice setting, very quiet at night and no light pollution.
All the staff were very pleasant, a good proportion of Motorhomes with the other half of the site on grass reserved for tents.
The site is very rustic, facilities are not Caravan or Camping Club standard, but the showers were warm and of the drench type.
If you are a cyclist or walker, this site is superb, we did the circular tour if Kielder both ways, about 28 miles. Lots of walks in the forest.
The Anglers Arms is 300m away with decent beer and food.

Decent campsite with plenty of space between pitches. Facilities are ok, but not everyone makes use of the mops/squeegee after their shower, at least they are there to use though. Washing up room is a squeeze and hot water wasn't always plentiful. Location is great though as lots of walking and cycling on the doorstep and just up the road from the observatory (if you're lucky enough to get a clear night the stargazing is amazing!).
